Inside door (pull) broke (1 Viewer)

Well, in an attempt to avoid sourcing and buying a new door card and then the hassle of removing and installation I tried a fix. I used a longer screw with a washer that left the screw head and washer sticking out half way into the door pull cavity. I then packed the cavity full of two part epoxy. Hopefully the epoxy will bond to the inside of the cavity and also adhere to the screw and washer. It’s setting up for the next 24-36 hours. Fingers crossed.

Can you post up a photo of how you fixed it?

It's really not that difficult to remove that handle section and repair it correctly, or replace. At some point sooner
or later everyone needs to remove the door panel to get into the door cavity ie: to replace a window lift motor, window regulator, door lock actuator,
or work on the door lock cylinder or linkage, etc,etc.

Here’s the fix. I’m letting it fully cure before clean up and removal of the masking tape. Time will tell if it holds. Again, I used a longer screw that extended into the cavity with a washer on the end to add surface area I don’t think you will notice anything due to the position of the cavity under the handle

Is there a way to remove and replace the handle without removing the card?

No. There are several screws mounting the plastic piece from the backside of the card. The card comes off easily though.

I replaced mine with the handle from a rear door, which fits pretty easily, I had to trim one little tab or something so if you can't find a front door piece that is an option too.

So the epoxy was put over the screw head and washer (can't tell from the photo)?

I hand packed epoxy into the cavity, insuring it got behind the washer and engulfed the screw. Also by packing it tight I wanted to adhere to the sides of the cavity. I removed the masking tape an hour ago and it seems rock solid.

I don't see why you couldn't cut a slot above and below the screw into the handle and run a flat bar through it pushing it in from the bottom and drill a hole in the metal where the screw goes and screw it in .
