Where is everyone getting their inner rods nowadays? Searched around, local dealer wants $285 each, McGeorge wants $192 each and eBay has some “Delphi” brand for like $50.

Part number I’m searching is 45503-69015

edit; the following popped up on Partsouq:

OE Toyota $104
555: $26.65
I just bought a Moog (reboxed 555) for $42 on Amazon. Free next day shipping, so likely cheaper than Partsouq, unless you have more to buy (who am I kidding, there is always more to buy).

Ironically on partsouq their availability on the 555 says “1”. So I’m about to pull the trigger on AutohausAZ for a whopping total of $67.97

I saw the moog one on Amazon, but what guarantee is there that it’s really a 555?

Well, the one I got 2 weeks ago had Made in Japan 555 stamped on it. I think Moog and 555 are both owned by the same parent company.

That’s kinda what I understood also but didn’t wanna chance it. Turns out my buddy works at AutohausAZ so I think I’m good lol.

I didn’t realize there where different steering joint kits for ’02+ vs older 100’s. I thought these pieces would all be interchangeable.

Does anyone actually know what’s different? Maybe the inner joints? (Since the racks are different?)
Are outers are same?

Reason I ask is most of the 100’s i wheel with are pre’02... (mine is ‘04), and for some trips, we bring certain spare parts, and assume we can share between us in case of emergency. This might be good info to know.

Bumping an old thread but I am also wondering this: anyone know the difference between the tie rod inner in 98-02 (Toyota PN 45503-69015) and 02+? (PN 45503-69025)

Im trying to source a 02+ Inner from 555 or 'Moog' but cant find a part number. Any help?

Rock Auto shows the part is the same for all years. MOOG EV800319

Edit : looks like the cutoff is 8/02 for a new part number, and they don't have one for Moog (at least on Rock Auto at the moment).

I saw the same thing. I assume they arent interchangeable but that really only leaves me with ordering OEM ($$) or some cheapo no name brand (junk).

-10? (math joke)

Seriously, isn't that the same year the steering rack changed from the one with replacable bushings to one w/o? So perhaps thread/diamter/length of the end that goes in the rack changed then?

Visually they appear slightly different but functionally they might be the same? Hard to tell

Is the inner tie rods 45503-69025 part of the whole steering rack/assembly 44250-60100? (i.e. If I buy the latter, I will not need the former?)
Thanks!

Anyone know the torque spec for the inners? Not that I can really get a torque wrench on them, but I’d like to have an approximate idea of the ugga-duggas necessary.

I called a shop today to do inner and outer tie rods on my 2000LC with 227k miles. My outer boots are ripped. The shop told me to do the inner tie rod They need to remove the rack. Is this true? I was going to tackle both the inners and outers at home but I think removing a rack would be a bit too big of a job. Any thoughts ?

Not required. You can get the tool for free from the auto parts stores.

are the inners pretty tough on these trucks ? they look massive! I'll do a test on the tie rods but keep em in there if they aren't sagging

Check for in/out play. I replaced mine around 240k miles.

is there any risk to get any leaks on these racks if replacing the inner rods? Mine is not leaking at all but I'm worried ...sometimes if it ain't broke don't fix it.
