Hey all, I installed a beefed up cable (4AWG) running from my alternator to the battery for charging. I have a clunky (and big) 100amp fuse on the end of the cable at the aux battery terminal. Any recommendations for a smaller, in-line fuse setup? I plan on running a second battery soon and want to clean up the top of the main battery.
IMHO, that BlueSeas terminal fuse is about as good as it gets. Less connections prone to failure than an in-line option. Here is mine configured for use with my dual battery kit and winch.
I love those MBRFs. Super high quality choice. Most inline fuses I associate with "audio" shops and they are cheap chinese junk.
THe ANL fuses in a good holder like Blue Sea are also very good and a nice way to go. But for absolute max protection, the MBRF makes sense since there is no unprotected wire run, not even a short one.
Thanks all. It never ocurred to me to mount it sideways! My hood JUST clears this setup so that will give me more peace of mind.
Yeah, the inline fuses I found were all "audio" ones. Not confidence inspiring.
