Hey dirty tribe. I have a 2005 LC100. 189,000 miles (won't be long until I'm in the 200K club!). I'm no getting 15.5 miles to a gallon. Previously I would range 13-14mph. Should I be concerned or shut the heck up and count my blessings. I had posted something a FB group and someone just commented "check fuel pump." Everything seems to be working well and it gets regular maintenance.

Has the type of engine oil been changed?
I recently switched from Mobil1 High Mileage to Valvoline Restore and Protect in the two vehicles I drive daily. I noticed a significant jump in fuel economy in both my LX and in my '96 F-250 farm truck after switching. Wasn't the goal of switching but it is definitely appreciated.

That’s a good question. I get synthetic but my usual spot may have switched it up.

15.5 MPG. Sound normal for HWY 80%, city 20%.

That said. Why the improvement:

Tires size & tread change.
Change in fuel.
Dirty air filter. Restrikes air flow, ECM reduce fuel working to get proper air/fuel mixture. Not good for engine, but does increase MPG.
Change in driving style.

that is pretty good mileage/gal for 80/20mix.

How about posting straight flat hwy (best with cruise control, 300m min)as that would (in theory) remove human influence. that will give me a better idea for apples to apples comparison.

as note: best I've gotten (1x loooooong hwy....17), typically 15 +/- for hwy/11+ local.

05 lx here

Used to get ~14-15 mixed driving
Bumped tire pressure up from 35 to 45
Now get ~15-16

Best ever was over 17 driving 70mph all highway

I notice mpg go down pretty drastically after 80 on the highway

Running 33” e rated Goodyear kevlars

Soon after I bought my 100, I drove to FL. With cruise I got 12 MPG the best! After reaching home, I did denso plugs, Toyota coil packs (4 were chinesium), new diff/transfer fluids (Valvoline), regreased caliper pins in the rear..... I went to 16-17 MPG, the best I got was 17.7 MPG at 75 MPH+ speeds.

My rig is heavy! I barely get 14.5 mpg on the highway!
