After contacting the accounting department at Impex they politely refunded my card and apologized for the steering gearbox showing available when no longer was. Off to Partsouq and $1,000 poorer.

I would gladly order from Impex again.
Dang...Is this the steering box/pitman arm etc that NAY and others have ordered from Impex? I hope they didn't see a rash of orders and decided to up the pricing!

Impex told me they are out of stock the steering box and part will no longer be sold by them. Guys above got the last boxes from Impex.

Partsouq has inventory just $600 more.

Odd. I ordered one about 45 days ago. 3 days ago I got the email that said it was at their warehouse and ready to ship. Paid the shipping, so hope its on the way. Will keep an eye on my order status I guess.
I think you got lucky! I ordered one and the pitman arm, said processing, waited about 6 days and then received a message that it was delayed a month. They then said it was expected to ship in a month but no guarantee. So I canceled the order and received a refund minus the PayPal fee.

Yeah I got the first email that said it was a 30 day delay. I said that was fine and waited. The box showed as in stock about a month later, then the pitman arm, the washer, and finally after about 45 days the nut. I assembled the package and asked it to ship. Yesterday I looked and in said in process still. Guess we'll find out.

So slight diversion of topic but not completely...

I have a box arriving today from Partsque and UPS is saying I owe $68 in government and broker charges?! What's up with that?

The parts order total more than 800 bucks in value ? If so that’s the import duties on car parts

I figured they would calculate that on the other end and add to the price. I'm a little disappointed because the total price delivered is getting really close to ordering a box from cruiser parts and supporting a vendor. Hindsight is always 20/20 but by the time you pay for the parts, pay for super expensive shipping and then pay for duty and brokerage, I think I'm at about $2200 for the box. I need to do the math to be sure.

Dang...that's a lot more than the $600 list price difference from Impex.

in case anyone is wondering, I'm happy to share. This is what I paid from Partsouq:
Gear assy: $2041.50
Pitman Arm: $97.12
Shipping: $191.15
Customs & "handling": $67.48
TOTAL: $2397.25

In hindsight I would order from Cruiser Parts and support a vender if I were to do it again.

one more comment on my shopping experience with partsouq. I emailed them to specifically ask them about the pitman arm that they are showing on their website. I told them I felt pretty sure that the box was the new box with the larger scepter shaft and that the pitman arm they have quoted will not fit it. I even provided them with the part number for the "correct" pitman arm. They asked for my vehicle VIN and I provided but again informed them that I think the box is upgraded and the pitman arm (part # 45411-60191) was for the older boxes and wouldn't fit. They said no, that is the correct part number for the box. I again asked them if they were sure as I didn't think it was. They said yes.

Guess what, it doesn't fit. The new box shaft is larger and the pitman arm doesn't fit. So now I've informed them that at their direction I ordered the wrong part, paid for it, waited for shipping, paid customs and other fees only to get the wrong part. I am not shipping it back across the globe to them at my dime.

Will report back what they say.

They aren't Toyota Land Cruiser parts professionals. They are a software company that sells widgets.

And the information regarding these parts has been on MUD for so long now, and the PNs have been verified countless times-- for well over 10 years. There is absolutely no reason to ask a bunch of software people if they know anything about the widgets they sell.

My box and arm is at the airport in dubai and if fed ex flies them straight into Denver could be at my door in Colorado in 2 days. Kinda amazing how small the world has gotten.

they would not sell me the part number I requested. they insisted it was the wrong part number.

PartSouq shipped two days ago and FedEx just dropped an order off. Fast!

That is a bummer!

I had to check my IMPEX order...yep, correct pitman 454110-60360, washer and nut.

@concretejungle is your 105 steering box from PartSouq flat black like all the boxes, including mine, received from Impex?

I seem to remember PartSouq offered the 105 steering box, and 105 pitman as a substitution for the 80 steering box. Now, it is just showing 105 box without the 105 pitman. 🤔

Yes, my box is flat back. It arrived in a new lexus/toyota box.

I'm just a little bummed because I "thought" me informing them of the correct part number and them saying no, this is the right part, would mean that the part number was superseded in their system. That didn't happen.

I think your hindsight was correct...Hope they send you the correct pitman arm.

You are going to pay duties over $800 and the shipper is not going to pay them for you on auto parts - that would be “Delivery Duty Paid” and nobody is advertising that.

Not saying who to order from of course, but U.S. dealer shipping is usually more than PartSouq and I’ve never seen it less. Steering box could be an exception.

I got in under what seems to have been a closing window - 40 year best USD->Yen exchange rate. Box was under $1,100 and final shipping plus duties added about $250. I sold my spare box and 105 sector shaft so by the time I was done my costs were in line with a reseal job with 105 sector shaft and some Rising Sun guys got good deals on some parts.

I could never bite off on the higher prices, I’d have done the reseal at these costs for sure. I also had a 140K mile spare box that I bought 15 years ago - the current crop of “cores” is all much higher mileage and wear at this point, but of course if your rig is a dedicated trail rig precision doesn’t matter. I just had no reason to not start at zero miles given my total costs were about the same either way.

So my box from Impex showed up today. Nice new flat black steering box, pitman arm, nut, washer and "rag" joint. All told with shipping I am into it about $1500. It took almost 50 days for them to ship it, but once it left their warehouse it was here in 3 days. I know what I am doing for the next few evenings :)
