It’s not a 50-series, but I thought it could fit with this thread

Yes, the 70 series really does seem like the next evolutionary step after the 55. Very similar front clip and the horizontal flowing body lines.

Earlier post I mentioned the 4 door 45 series and some nickname it went by I couldn’t remember. They’re called Bandy’s, short for Bandeirante, which I’m very unfamiliar with - please forgive my ignorance. Found this pic on FB.

When you want a pig so bad that you use the paint scheme. This is a “bandy” at the LC Museum in SLC. They have a Mercedes diesel.

So I am thinking this style, with a filler panel on the rear wheel opening like the 79 series, a long frame stretch, and an aussie style tray would make a sweet combo. Frame strength would be an issue. A 12-ht or 1hd-t would move it along well.

Bringing this recent pic over to this thread for further discussion.

Whoever did the work on this was approaching an ideal 50 series cab, pushing the back window section behind the B-pillar. Makes me wonder what happened and why it wasn’t completed.

A couple of ideas to share here.
Now the back window tie-in to the tailgate has a large flat section that angles outward towards the vertical portion of the gate. This caused them to angle the pillar out more to meet with the tailgate. Works for the SUV look, becomes wasted space in a pickup cab (arguably). How about a pie cut of whatever pillar that would be (D?) to eliminate that flat angled transition and make a more vertical back from the roofline down to that transition body line. Add more to the roof to give ample headroom. Where that ends, cut down to add the tailgate and rear corners to round out the back of the cab.
