I’m the market for a 200, advice?

I picked up a 2009 about 4 years ago. Had 147K miles paid 27K. Normal rust for the NE. Above average rust other parts of the country. No rot. Just bolts can be a PITA. It was maintained by a dealership for its life before me. The radiator was replaced. Original starter. I have 185K on it now. I replaced an O2 sensor and brake rotors all around and rear brake calipers. Thats it as far as things that actually needed to be fixed. (Mods don't count for money spent) It's my DD and play toy. It's the best rig I ever owned.

When I was looking for mine I was looking for the early models. It cheaper but the looks are more utilitarian to me if that makes sense? I bought it in 2020 with 199k dealer maintained miles( literally all maintenance described in book including belts and plugs). Down side is they were also NE miles. Not as bad as people think. Has some rust underneath no rot. Never broke a bolt underneath when removing things around for maintenance. I paid $25k after everything at a Hyundai dealer. They are also in the same group with the Toyota dealer that maintained it. Radiator, waterpump and starter was done within the year I bought it. Also wire harness from mice under the intake. I did all my baseline maintenance. All fluids including transmission, complete brake over haul including calipers, toyo at3 tires, new drive shafts (found my vibrations lol) and take off struts/shocks and springs from Eric. Outside of maintenance things I put on TRD wheels, Gobi rack/ladder, tints, magnaflow exhaust, AFE intake system. It's been a dream to drive and people can't believe the year and miles on it. 215k now. Oh yeah its a Amazonian. Good luck on your search

I'm not saying I dislike it, but I never really understood the draw for amazon green.

But that is a damn good looking rig.

Agree on the utilitarian. IMO 13-15 facelift offers some substantive upgrades like HID headlamps and a MFI in the cluster that is multi-color and feels much more modern.. something that mattered to me with as much time as I spend staring at it. Vented seats, and a couple other odds & ends. But, IMO, the exterior of my 13 looks cartoonish compared to the 08-11 or especially 16+.

OP if it matters to you bluetooth streaming came in about 2010. This is a feature I personally won't live without. Unsure if it can be added to earlier rigs, and if so, whether it is stable enough to be considered seamless.

Tunai Firefly = bluetooth streaming for about $40. Works like a charm on my 2010

I had an Amazon Green 200 and miss it. Amazon green is my personal favorite color. Looks different in different lighting conditions, it can totally change the look of the car. But I also like British Racing Green on jaguars, Kent Green Metallic and Pangea Green on a land rover, so I may be a sucker for greens.

My $0.02 - the thing that makes the green so special is that is not often seen.

I’m a huge sucker for geeens, always have been, now I see this might be my goal to find one. Have an 06 4Runner that’s my daily now I sold the 100

I just got lucky, had a search alert set up on FB Marketplace, and again got very lucky. Followed through diligently and paid in cash, fast. In today’s market, I paid just under 20K for a 2011 LX 570 with 238K. It’s rust free, and a decent service history is there. Not enough for me to know where it’s at right now regarding all of the fluids so I am going to have more upfront immediate cost. The last 30K miles only has 2 oil changes on record, but the oil isn’t low, looks clean, and they said they used a garage in a small town in Texas, soooo. It’s never been wrecked, but it’s definitely been driven. Front seats both look very used. Otherwise, the main screen is dimmer and yellower than it should be by a long shot. What is the fix here?

As far as the drive goes…. I can’t believe how tight it feels with this many miles. It’s feels tighter and sportier than my ’14 Tundra with only 137K miles, which I owned since new. It baffles me, honestly. There is a lot more steering assist going on here but the handling is amazing versus my expectations.

I have owned a lot of vehicles, over 30 in total, and I am 47 years old. This one has plenty-o-power to spare, but you will feel it in the wallet with these gas prices. If I baby it, I might creep into 14/15 mpg range, but if I drive it the way it wants to be driven, I get 12-ish. I haven’t owned a 100. I have driven a GX 460 with same motor, and it’s fun to drive but doesn’t feel as solid and heavy as this one. It’s not a 100 series though, so I can’t compare. It’s going to get roughly the same mileage though, so difference in fuel cost between the 2 can’t be much. When you close the drivers side door of any LC, especially when exiting the vehicle, it’s a unique sound and solid feeling. It feels a lot like my tundra but heavy and tank like, and much more responsive.

Any suggestions that are the absolute must do’s for a new 200 owner with no known mechanical issues, but a spotty recent history?? Please PM me.

Congrats on the purchase! I was in a similar position as you about a month ago when I bought my 2008 LX570.
