Sounds like you have a plan figured out.
Over the last 22 years I’ve had to fine tune timing adjustment a lot. I used a light to set the starting point... that said, what speck do you use to time an automatic & auto distributor, converted to manual, lighter advance springs, adjustable vacuum advance, different cam, different carb? I’ve had to adjust, test drive, adjust, and drive again. Performance is great & economy is hard to beat.
