I like the design and the oversized vestibule. I'm definitely a fan of the hard shell RTTs over soft, living in the PNW. Looks like breakdown would be even easier with this style than other hard shells I've seen, that aren't hinged on one side. $2k deal sounds good, I'd pass on the retail price of $3k though..

I know it's petty, but I'm immediately turned off by any product that adds an "i" prefix, unless it's an Apple accessory.

At 3k no way. 2K is competitive though, and my only hesitation is EVERY SINGLE THING I have bought on KS has arrived 50-200% later than promised. Plus I really like to touch and feel and operate something this expensive before buying, just too many ways it could be done wrong or cheap.

All that said I am in the market for a RTT this summer so will be listening if any one out there is near LA or buys one and can give us more info....

Totally agree. First thing I would do would be to de-badge.

I am still waiting for Kakoon headphones that were promised delivered almost a year ago- what gives me hope on this though is that they have been selling it in Korea already and this design is already in production. Flat rate shipping of $380 in the US bumps the price up significantly though:(

Space for family of 4 is perfect for me and I dig the hard shell design... I'm considering it- I think it will make it significantly easier to camp this summer.

Good comments/thoughts above (i.e. "i" is a turnoff...period, tough to simply trust the quality/longevity without a working demo, etc.). That said, the iKamper website and videos seem to really address a lot of items:
  1. Design - love it - intentionally focusing on occupants laying perpendicular to the traditional RTT layout is spot-on and doubling the occupants from two-to-four-ish is a huge bonus.
  2. That vid of the honeycomb aluminum - that was smart to add, no one's going to worry about strength.
  3. Pics of the vestibule - would be good to see videos of that setup and its associated size but it does look promising.
  4. Unclose/close - sure looks easy and the included storage on either side of the ladder (for shoes, misc. items) are nice touches.
  5. 150# is still 150# but that's a HELLUVA lot better than the latest Alu Cab RTT coming in at nearly 300# (from memory).
  6. $2K vs. $4k (again, from memory) for an Alu Cab.....duh.
No dog in this fight, not in the market right now but if I had a trailer, I'd strongly consider adding one of these. Fun to look at.....thx for posting this.

Yeah the more I think about it the more I am leaning towards backing this on kickstarter when it launches

Kickstarter is nice if you can't make it to Vegas and are a gambler...
