just wondering if I should go with OEM from CDan or get a aftermarket ones like NGK or Magnacor?

I stayed w/OEM , too, after considering Magnacore, Accel, and Bosch....fitment issues, primarily, together with insignificant (if any) improvement.

Occansionaly I see aftermarket tune up parts on vechicles that come in. Here is my .02 worth/ The ngk spark plug wires are not the same as stock. the fit is a little off and the plastic hold downs do not do as good a job. The wires are no bonded to the ends as well. The cap is made almost as well as stock except the bolts that attach the distributor cab are not held by by the cap, you can drop them. The rotor has not carbon on the tip to allow electrical tranference and to keep corrison down. Check CDan's prices verses the aftermarket and you may find they are not that far apart. I do like stock over the aftermarket for use in the shop, and for my own truck. later robbie

I once used a set of NGK wires on my 92, the boots melted to the plugs...............nuff said >:(

Go OEM, I run all OEM wires(and all tune up bits) on all my Cruisers. Some real nice things about the OEM wires, they are very well made, they are numbered, they are the right length, the boots are correct, and on some wire sets(like a fj40 or 60) the wires come assembled in the loom already set up...........now this is something a machine can't do, so they must have a human seting up the wires in the looms before they get bagged up, yeah I know its a little thing.......but I think it shows the quailty.

One of my Cruisers, the 90 fj62 had the original plug wires on it when we got it at 230,000 miles and they still tested good, I did replace them just because but they prolly would have gone another 100K

Definitely stick w/ the OEM - my original set lasted 140K, the only reason I had to replace them was the connector broke on #6 when changing the plugs (wires still good). A buddy of mine replaced the wires on his LX450 w/ Bosch...they were noticeably smaller and didn't fit right.

I agree OEM, I replaced mine at 135K miles just because I thought they had served long enough and kept the old set as a spare.

agreed on oem.
and also keep the old set as a spare. then you dont have to borrow your neighbors car to go get a new set when the number 6 one breaks and your wife is out of town. ask me how I know.

I agree with everyone above, give Dan a call
OEM for sure. I replaced mine @ 100k shortly after I got my
cruiser, and my spare set is almost as good as new :o

How often do you guys recommend replacing spark plug wires? Or do you just go by the resistance testing?

I replaced mine at around 92,000 miles when I did a valve adjust. I also replaced the cap and rotor. I did it mainly because it was all apart and easy to do as a combined operation. What came off was fine but I KNOW it'll go at least another 90k before I have to worry about it. :D

Oh, OEM stuff, of course :flipoff2:

Pagin CDan,

So, what is the cost on this wires? Does it come with the plastic caps to attach to distributor cap?

The wire set comes complete with all fasteners, clips, mounts etc. I do not recall the exact price but it is around 110 bucks list. I can get exact pricing for you on Monday.

 D-
