Hi all,
My rig beeps at me after I remove the key from the ignition. Took it in and it appears the vehicle is beeping because it thinks the key is still in the ignition. Does this require a complete swap of the ignition, or is this being caused by another reason?

TIA,
Squ1d and SNDY100

I get that happen sometimes after it rains. One of the many gremlins that water intrusion causes. Not 100% that's your problem, maybe a bit of oil in the key hole will solve it, or you might chase it for ever and never find the issue.. Sorry

Ya, I don't want to replace the ignition and re-key the vehicle and still have the problem. Not sure about the water intrusion. Hasn't started raining heavy here yet. I have a new roof rack ready to install once SNDY comes back from the shop. So that should deter water intrusion from the mounting holes. Gotta check the sunroof drains and the windshield. The vehicle had a complete doors/windows off repaint and Im not sure how good a job they did putting it back together. I have found many issues with the rig since I bought it.

I think I've had the same issue going on for a few years now, though intermittent. Do you see the 'tilt to exit' steering wheel not retract when the door chime happens? If my wheel does the tilt/retract, it is fine. If it doesn't, I get the chime. Sound familiar? Also then can't use the FOB to lock up. Have to manually do it.

You may have to touch the ignition with your finger to get the mechanism to release… bump it a bit.. I get this occasionally and I suspect a little tri flow or machine oil around the tumber may help

Mine does the same thing. its an intermittent thing...I wonder if something is sticking inside. the suggestion above of a small amount of oil seems like an option, but I suspect there may be dirt and lint inside, and adding oil may make it worse. Maybe a good cleaning (somehow) would be the answer. To be continued

turns out the problem went away when i replaced the telescoping steering wheel motor with a new one

Okay good to know. Mine is going full gremlin. When it doesn't retract when I get out of the driver side, I discovered that I get out, open the passenger door and then it retracts. Did you do the install of the motor?

no, i was going to, but i already had it at my shop and the tech was trying to determine if it was the window motors or the telescope motor. I already had the part so i had him do it. The diy is pretty easy overall. I think there is a youtube video for it. i was gonna do a video when i installed it, but obviously not doing it now.
