After about 4 hrs of fishing I was able to get the broken bit out of the bottom of the cylinder. Thanks to everyone who has posted and commented on the How-To for this topic/repair.
Now that it is out, I can order the part based on the stamped number. It seems like Ebay/Amazon is the current supplier. If anyone has a preferred source please post a link. (Side note, I can't believe that the 100 series community doesn't have a go-to solution that is fail proof for this know issue. A steel replacement, anyone? )
MY QUESTION:
When I was looking at the brass on top of the rod, the assembly came apart and the tiny spring fell out. I have not seen anything online that shows the proper configuration. I have the two flat brass pieces and the spring. I know I need to swap those over to the new rod. However, I cannot figure out how the spring should fit. Also it seems the rod itself has an internal spring. Does the new rod come with that spring imbedded?
Thanks for any info on this. Its has been a labor of love thus far, and I am beyond grateful that the rod failed while parked right in front of my garage.
