I have a Fireball XR700, it's been in and working for years. A recent problem had me replace the coil. Referring to the diagram from Fireball,
there are two wire runs from the ignition switch.
All of my wiring diagrams show one Black/yellow wire to the coil+.
The wire from the switch to the starter is a black/white.

If I have an external ballast coil, where/what is the "start wire", assuming the run is the heavy black/yellow?

I was waiting on someone familiar with that Fireball ignition to respond but in the meantime, I’ll take a stab. First off, that diagram doesn’t make sense since there is no starter or starter connection shown. And the starter wire from the ignition switch would need to go to the starter and not the coil. Is there more wiring instructions other than what you’ve shown?

Two questions.

1, Did a coil come with the ignition system or did you use the stock coil?

2, Does your starter have the second small terminal which would be for a resistor bypass or does it have just one big terminal connected to the battery and one small terminal that should connected to the “Start” wire from the ignition switch?

That was it for directions
The missing starter explains a few things to my muddled mind!

1. stock coil (internal resistor)
2. no 2nd terminal

Thank you!
