. . . the white 40 for sale on the I-17 frontage road in Anthem . . .

I checked it out today:

'65, original motor (did not open the hood, so no idea of carburetor etc.)
no speedo cluster, consequently no odometer reading
passenger wiper and wiper motor missing
windshield hold-down equipment missing
vacuum 4WD shifter, aftermarket selectable hubs (old style, never seen them)
three on the tree, original steering wheel
lovingly installed :hillbilly: rubber floor matting
some non-OEM looking dash knob - hacked wiring, original fuse block in original location - comes with simple CB -antenna mounted low on passenger side
original bench and jump seats, re-uphostered not too long ago in grey vinyl with grey cloth - front aftermarket lap belts
aftermarket roll bar with rear extension and mounting holes for shoulder or 3-point belts
beefy aftermarket shackles at 90 degree angles, aftermarket springs too short, prolly Jeep springs ? (as I have seen on another 40 with a shackle angle problem) - bushings haven't been changed in ages; U bolts look non-OEM
drum brakes all around
aftermarket beefy bumpers, front with tow bar, rear with aftermarket toe hitch
original bumperettes, correctly installed
original rear lights, aftermarket rear side reflectors - front lights original - all logos except for 4WD
diamond plate rear quarters, but body completely uncut and pretty dentless - underside of wheel wells look solid; rocker panels spotless; long flat sidesteps - split hood with ornament
channel-type black besttop with cracked rear window (other windows are good) - softdoors present
one-piece tailgate with three hinges and 6 footman loops - original tire carrier; white rims - didn't look at the tires specifically, but prolly old
for sale sign claims it purrs like a kitten

seller (I have no connection) is asking $8888 - was Phil involved  ;)

I saw this one the other day with a friend who is thinking about a 40> 1966 Toyota FJ 4x4

owned by an older gentleman who was in a prospecting club. Nice V8 install, body has front fiberglass assy that tilts forward. It ahd been sitting and started right up on the first crank. Rest of vehicle does not show any rust. It was painted about 10 years ago and looks to be a AZ truck. drum brakes, engine runs strong, 3 spd, 4wd works and drives nicely. tires good, shackle lift, no Power steering. All guages work. no turn signales. comes with a full hard top with good glass (old paint), and the 1966 doors with good slide up glass. (black hard fabric outside in good condition for the age). Dual gas tanks, AM seats with full belts. Roll bar.

Scot is a younger guy helping the older gentleman "bill" sell it by putting on craigslist and fielding phone calls.

A nice rig with a nice body and decent mechanicals. Said he would take 6K for it.

Some kids stole all his radio and speakers out of it though :o

Not all old land cruisers came with bezel.
