Sadly all the name jokes will never come to fruition. After tallying up what it would cost to replace the body panels and redo the interior, buying another one for a bit more money would actually make more sense and I don't have the cash for either even with selling the SDL.

So the drivetrain may be migrating over to the 80 at some point. Thinking 6.2 diesel, 700R4, np203 doubler to a cruiser split case.... for a crawl ratio of somewhere near 70:1.... not going to happen for a while but the drive train will be pulled from the burb in a month or so.

It seems they do still make them... I was falsely under the impression that they did not make them anymore
For a DD i've decided to keep the SDL and throw the $300 for a new MB tensioner/pulley/bearing assembly and then address the paint for another $300 and do that. I can get about $600 in scrap metal for the body of the burb.
As far as paint for the SDL i'm thinking like this.... minus the white wall tires

I told you straight out I didn't :grinpimp:
Truthfully though I'd rather have the suburban in good nic but it just isn't going to happen right now. Needs way too much work done to it. Plus the hook ups for the 3rd row isn't there so that would also be another added expense to add them.

Johnny that paint on the SDL is actually Plastidip..... a thing taken from the VW crowd.... It is durable but also very easy to remove if needed.

Plastidip, like the crap they use to coat tools? This stuff?
Industrial Protective Coatings & Adhesives, Plastic Coatings, Protective Foam Coatings

That's the coolest idea I've heard in a while. Removable to boot. That's badass man!

That is sick. That's a hell of a good goal:D

Pretty cool Al, bummer to hear it is going to take so much work. Those Suburbans are pretty awesome. They are doing a cummins build up in Diesel Power Mag right now.

I like that paint scheme...I actually like the white walls as well.

Go on one of the Mercedes Forums. I'm sure someone has the parts you need for less than that.

How well does that plasti dip hold up? Does it hold onto dirt and UV protection?

With the burb I could deal with the body work (even though it will be expensive) The interior really isn't a problem to replace except that the hook ups for 3rd row seating doesn't seem to be there. But its the little things..... I need the heat and air to work and there seems to be parts of the wiring missing.... then the doors are really picky on if they want to open or not and the list keeps going..... if I had some extra $$ lying around and time I would probably do it but for now the MB seems to be the cheaper option and more realistic for me right now. That and when I start as an appraiser trainiee soon I could be driving all over the friggen place and 28-29 mpg just makes the $4.20 diesel that much easier to swallow.
