Hello, everyone, I'm from China. I love LC200 as much as you do. Because of some usage problems, I began to ask the Toyota technician around me for help, but I found that no one could really answer. When I saw our forum, I was very happy! I think I can have a professional answer to my question! The car I own is the 2020 Land Cruiser 5.7L VXR GTS UAE version. I did not make any modifications. I used it to tow a 1700KG trailer. My question: 1. The downforce of THE RV on LC200 is about 150Kg(Towball download),and the weight of passengers, gasoline and luggage is about 300Kg. Will it cause harm to LC200? AVS AHC suspension, etc... 2. Is manual or automatic better for towing your RV? My English is not good, so the above content is written with translation software, maybe in the grammar or special nouns let you see not understand, but still hope to get everyone's help! Thank you very much! Have a nice day, everyone!

Welcome! This forum sure has some reach around the world.

No harm whatsoever to the AHC suspension system at those weights. It will easily handle it. Great looking setup by the way.

So you feel more comfortable, I tow a much heavier trailer with the AHC suspension system. The system is robust and capable. Admittedly, I'm probably close to the limits without further modification but they are considerable limits. My trailer is 7600lbs ( 3450kg ), towball tongue weight 1200lbs ( 540kg ), and with 6 people and some gear another 800 lbs ( 350kg ) payload.

Nǐ hǎo @Luqi and welcome. Your vehicle is more than capable to handle your trailer and loading weights. No worries.

Very happy to see your reply! Due to the Internet speed, I can't see the picture of your RV, but I believe it must be very beautiful! Our country's RV is still in the initial stage, so I am very happy to discuss with you and learn relevant knowledge! Thank you! Very happy!

Ni Hao (你好):)
Thank you for your reply too! I can use at ease in this way! Happy! Thank you very much!

To answer your second question, if your Land Cruiser has an 8 speed automatic transmission, use S6 for towing. If it has a 6 speed automatic transmission, use S4 for towing. If it has a manual transmission, use a gear that keeps engine RPMs up around 2000 for good engine torque while towing.

Thank you very much for your answer! My car is 8 speed automatic transmission, I always use the automatic gear, never use the S6. It has been used for 8000Km. 90% is highway running, maintaining a speed of 100 ~ 120Km/H. Will this damage the gearbox? Or does it just affect the drag power? Looking forward to your answers.

I can see your RV! That's great! This is Airstream RV, right? I like it very very much! How beautiful! We have very few here because the price is very expensive! What's more, our laws require that RVS be scrapped after 15 years and can no longer be used on the road. As a result, this classic product is rarely owned!

If you use S6 when towing, the transmission will run much cooler. S6 limits the transmission to the first 6 gears, so it does not use the overdrive gears 7 and 8. That keeps the torque converter locked up almost all the time, which reduces heat buildup. Using S6 the transmission will do just what it does normally in gears 1-6. When you are not towing, use all 8 gears with the transmission in D. You have not damaged the transmission in any way with what you have done in the first 8000 Km.

I see! When Towing, with the S6, the gearbox will be cooler! Thank you very much! D would be fine, but it would have more calories! Thank you very much.

Yes, she's an Airstream. Classic in design but not over 15 yrs old yet. Too bad to hear they scrap them at 15 yrs!?

There's similar age related constraints as many private RV parks don't allow older than 10 yrs. RVs do tend to be falling apart by then and they're afraid of owners abandoning them. Airstreams don't usually get questioned as they are almost lifetime construction. At least the shell.

Yes, that's why I like Airstream. I really, really like products with great stability! LandCruiser, for example, gives you a sense of security! In our country, pickup trucks were scrapped in 15 years, so the F-150 is also a car that people like but buy less, unless you love it like crazy! I look forward to owning an Airstream one day, which fascinates me even more!
