I just failed my CA Smog check again. I am running too rich. I have the factory jets 1.24 primary and 1.71 secondary.

Does anyone know where I can get some leaner jets for a '78 Calif. spec FJ40? I am not sure what sizes are even offered anymore.

Thanks.

Howdy! If that rig ever passed in that past with those jets it should be OK now. Are you sure it is not another problem causing the failure? Post up your HC, CO, and NoX numbers and maybe someone can give you specific pointers. John

It could be another problem, but I am not sure what to try next. I was thinking since it is on a dyno for the 15 mph and 25 mph tests in 3rd gear, it is putting too much load on the engine and causing a richer condition. I have my float level set really low (below the window).

I am sure 38.5 SX tires do not help much either.

I am looking for something that will help before I try the denatured alcohol to see if it makes a difference.

I started a post here which lists my numbers for 2 tests....

So would it be worth the trouble to go find a friend with 35's or 33's you can swap onto your rig for the test run? John
