Does anyone have the list of all the "normal" production cars that came with electric vacuum pumps. or possibly a link to the site.

Thanks Rattle Rattle

As you know I am planning an install of a 4bt in my cruiser as well. I have researched the alternator/vaccum pump for the engine and I decided to do away with the "power" part of my brakes. I am going to run a M/C from a 75 vette. I understand it works awesome with 4 wheel discs.

Just a thought.

Interesting to say the least!

a gas engine would not need a vacumn pump as the engine is the pump. Diesel engines would use a mech driven vacumn pump, or hydro assist.

manual brake it.

I would be entertain at any information on the electric vacumn pump. I have never heard nor seen one before. It would need to carry about 15 psi i believe and damn near constant.

I found some info on the net, they put them on Electric vehicles and chevette and cadillac diesels+ some cavaliers. Thanks for the advice but I'll just buy a pump ($160 maybe less) and wire and plumb it rather than do hydro or mechanical. it should be a lot easier in the long run.

The thirty fives will be on by next week

cadillac diesels, interesting, i believe these would be 82-91 (suppose to be available till 91) olds 262 diesel engines. This engine was used in a different GM bodys.
82-85 Available in Mid-Sized GM Cars..Including FWD

says all 262 V6 diesels came with belt driven vacumn pumps!

Pass along that info if you dont mind, now you got me thinking really hard about this.

I'm waaaay off from having a complete list but I can tell you the '79 VW diesel I owned had one, and the '94 range rover I have has also got one.

The Ford 6.9L belt-drive is super small and works well enough for the heavy 1 ton. Are you using a serp belt on the Cummins or you just want to go electric? I think the Vette MC may be the cure-all for your situation though, one less part is always better.

If you can't find one that way, they are sold through Summit, but for a good price.

I was told that some ford aerostar vans have an electric power brake booster. Another avenue to check into.

I could test my York compressor and see what kind of vacuum it can generate.
They are cheap, plentiful, and long lasting, but large.

A heck of a lot more than the amount needed for this, besides, if he wants belt driven there are lot of OEM apps that use them, all ford deisels except the ones with Hydro brakes
