which manual should I be looking for my 83 BJ42? I haven't heard anything good about the Haynes manuals. What other ones are out there for the Diesel engine?

Thanks

i have the 3B factory manual here or you can (i beleive) download it from birfield.com ...

The Haynes has NO diesel related info at all in their orange book. Go with factory manuals.

I think the the Gregorys are ok for the price,$30AUD.
Ive never looked at their B manual but I own a F and HZ manual and they will get you a long way.
No injector pump or automatic rebuild info though.

Every week there is old diesel FSMs on Ebay

go to toyota and order the factory manuals. I just bought a 1984 toyota manual from them for 40 CAD. has everything. except you need two manuals, one for the chassis and one for the engine.

There's also a tranny manual for the H55F. I have all three, if you need any info quick PM, otherwise, yeah, the factory manuals are the only way to go.

as wayne mentioned you can get a copy for free at birfield.com in the manuals section. i have an old junky computer in the shop that'll run acrobat and i have the manuals there. that doesn't do much for the road but i do have a laptop for those occasions....

yes, i'm a cheap bastard.....

Be careful about ebay sourced factory manuals. They are often cheap copies. Don't ask how I know.

For an 83 BJ42, the fiche is useful, I got one off ebay, the real thing in this case.
