After repeated nightmares with my POS 2LTE, ive found a 5L with sub 75KM that I'm buying. It comes with a MT attached. Wondering what's involved in swapping to a MT while the new engine is going in. I imagine it's more than just bolting on a pedal :D. Very capable friend's shop is doing the swap, just wondering what parts/planning I'd need to consider.

driveshafts length might be different

Nice find - getting rid of the auto box is a bigger upgrade than replacing the 2L-T imo, great combination though.

One thing to check - is it a 5L or a 5L-E with an electronically controlled pump?

Assuming it's a mechanically controlled 5L, you'll need not just the clutch pedal but the whole brake and clutch pedal assembly that bolts to the bulkhead. Easy to find in Australia for example, probably not easy in North America.

You'll want to make sure that the transmission is from the same model as your Hilux, otherwise the transfer case could be different. Regardless it will probably require different driveshafts, and you'll need to run a line for the clutch hydraulics in addition to swapping out the pedal cluster. Holes in the floor for the shifters will be different, you'll likely want to find the appropriate shifter boots and trim. Is your Hilux RHD or LHD? The shifter is specific to driver orientation so if the donor transmission is from the opposite side drive as your vehicle you'll need to find a new shifter too.

The LN112 was a JDM only model, so they are all right-handed.

are you going to run the turbo on the 5l?

Will the 2L turbo swap over?
I'm almost sure that it will. But you'll need to drill the oil pan or block for the oil return, then tee off your oil pressure sensor for oil pressure as the 5L block is most likely not drilled for turbo oil. then swap over your coolant pipes and hoses too. The 5L pistons are not as well cooled as 2lte don't go crazy with power.
