I looked at the new 200 today.

I saw the '08 LC at a local dealer last night. Had a luxury package option and a few other options including remote start. The lux package comes with rear entertainment system and two wireless headphones and a remote control. All the comforts of home.

It looks a bit like a large Toyota Highlander (not a good thing). The base price is over $60k. With the options on this one the price was $73,000. I can't imagine how much more the LX570 will have or how much higher the price will be. Of course it will be plusher on the inside and more costly. But $73k for a LC is beyond steep.

Still has those ridiculous side folding 3rd row seats. The LC is very nice and should be very good offroad (not many will take it there) but the design/styling isn't what I had hoped. It's evolutionary which is typical for Toyota. No risk taking allowed.

I was thinking about a Benz GL but the LC will be much better in terms of reliability and probably resale value too. Whatever I get it's going offroad so the question is what aftermarket stuff will be available? I can't imagine there will be much demand so I expect very little in the way of offroad product development for the LC and LX570. :frown:

MagicMtndan,
I suspect there is a lot of parts similarity with the Tundra so you might have some options with offroad suspension stuff. Also, it seems OME and ARB are not dragging their heels in developing product for it.

I saw one driving on the freeway on the way back from SNT, and all I could think of was "and people are complaining about how ugly the FJ Cruiser is?"

I can't believe they still get worse gas mileage than the Sequoia....

The gas mileage is pretty bad...I get about 260 miles to a tank.

I still don't get this whole thing people have over the looks. It may not be a Ferrari in looks, but it is not ugly. Plain maybe, but I just don't get it.

I am going to start putting it down as jealously. :flipoff2:

Or possibly, honesty.

LOL....ok ok ok, I am not going to get into this debate again. I made my feelings known in a past thread.

I am sure there were PLENTY of people who thought the 100 series was ugly when it came out and still do....same as the 80 series, etc.

The only issues is now with the 200 series, there is a site, like this, to let everyone know your feelings. Back then there was not, so unless you met them face to face, you would never know how they felt.

People can think it is ugly for all I care. I will still whip their ass on the road. Off road, probably not just yet....but give me time. Once the products come out......prepare for the can....the can oh whip ass! :grinpimp:

I like it, the styling grew on me. The LX hasn't grown on me at all. I like the LX all but its face and the integrated running boards. The interior of the LX looks very complicating.

It's like. The tail lights and headlights. They stick out hella far. And the windows are all kinda funky, especially the rear ones. And the front is all stubby and short and stuff.

If I were to buy a new Cruiser for looks, it would be an FJ Cruiser. If I were to buy a Cruiser that didn't start to break when I put an aftermarket bumper on it, I'd buy an 80. :flipoff2:

Seriously, I think the best looking Land Cruiser ever made is the 2007. It's like. Realllllly pretty. It's like all the good features of the 200 series, plus the radical stylings of the 100 series.

And also, I hate the way Land Cruiser is written out on the tailgate. It looks crappy. Too much chrome.

I can appriciate your feelings. It is simple.

Some men like women that are really skinny, I like mine with a little bit of meat. Who wants a woman that breaks when you stretch them a bit :)

We are all different.

I have to say that I COMPLETLY AGREE with the head and tail lights. VERY funky.

BUT I have to say that I have never had a better automobile when it comes to night driving on both low and high beams. I don't know if that is the result of the 'buggin' head lights or not.

I hope my LC doesn't break when a new bumper is put on! lol.

Oh BTW :flipoff2:

I love this site :)

If I had a family and money, I'd probably get a new one, since every year the comfort and safety features increase, but right now, I'm content with my 80. Even though I want to get rid of it and get a 55. But. If I had money right now, I'd probably go with the '07. I dunno what it is, but they look sleek. And sexy.

AHHHH see you hit something there. I have a family of 6, the 7th coming up in a few weeks.

With 3 car seats needs and a total of 4 kids, I need the room.

I could have gotten an 07 for about 10k cheaper, but the new interior, the KDSS, and the 5.7 made up the 10k difference for me.

Either way it was a larger payment then my '05 Acura TL which I still miss :(

Oh that's right, I forgot about the bigger engines. Hmmm. I like the look of the '07 a lot better, but I like to drive fast too.

And then there's the fact I don't have 70k to buy a car with.

Ah, the perks of being 19.

You are only 19??? Well then that is why my 'woman' analogy got no response.

I would not expect someone who is 19 to even consider a $70k truck as a reality.

I am 35 with a wife and 3 kids (4th due in a few weeks)

That explains alot :)

Actually, the 200 is growing on me already. I know when I first saw pics I really was turned off. Now, only a few short months of seeing more pics and seeing it in person have changed my views on it quite a bit. I think new models usually get a luke warm opinion after a body style has been around as long as the 100 was. Oh well, time will tell !

Once you drive one and feel that power...you will be hooked! Trust me!

I Really Think the 200 is incredible! And it looks good as well...

Interior materials especially, seem first rate.. I've enjoyed some

nice european cars, in recent past, And believe the 200's interior

is at least as good! On top of all that, it does everything else off-

road...It will also give a BMW X5 4.8 IS a run for it's money in the

acceleration department! I also like the fact that the 200, like other

Land Cruisers, hides it's exclusivity behind a Toyota badge..It's

neat that you have been so gracious with your info in spite of some

rather rude comments....You obvously could afford to buy a car

attatched to a big brand image; Instead, you opted for one

of the world's finest vehicles- one that exudes quality, luxury,

and competence-on, and off road..And it's brand image is based

on these qualities, not on pretense...Not only that, you're interested

in utilizing it's off road abilites as well...it's good for all of us who

enjoy the land cruiser heritage, that people like you buy a 200, and

share their experiences, opinions etc. with all of us.

Thanks...I appriciate that. Hey it was between the LC and a 7 series BMW.....but the BMW would not do as well off road I don't think.

Here is a very petty question but there is a reason for asking it..How is the sound system? I was/am really disappointed in the sound quality my 100 has. I was expecting much better sound, especially from a Japanese car....
