I hit 20 mpg 100% stock 05 lx

Driving back from one of my stores, I decided to try and have a go at hitting 20mpg. Anyways I ended up achieving it. 60mph typical highway stretch some sweeping up and down hill sections.

Anyways back up to 70mph and 15mpg.

I often get 20 mpg, but I am from the uk where a gallon is 4.55 litres.

I got 100 mpg on a short section of a trip. Seriously though - 23 miles isn't really enough distance to be statistically significant unless it was dead flat. And, in CT, can you drive 23 miles without going up or down a hill? But, if you do that trip each way and the avg is 20... well, that's something

I ended up driving from greenfield MA to Windsor, CT averaged 20.3 mpg over 61 miles.

A few years ago I posted a graph in a gas mileage thread showing that 60 mph is the sweet spot for achieving 20 mpg on the highway with a well-maintained stock truck. It doesn't surprise me that you hit that number. The graph also shows mpg plummeting to 10 mpg at 80 mph. It takes a lot of gas to push these things through the air fast!

I always drive to hit good mileage numbers when on cross country road trips, even more so when headed to the in-laws house. For some reason it drives my wife nuts because "it takes longer to get there..." but I rationalize by saying its saving $$$!! My record over a 350 mile stretch is 18.3 in a stock 200 LC averaging right around 67 mph. If you hit 20, thats impressive! I'll have to slow it down more next time and see what happens.

Assuming you meant "stock 2000 LC"? Otherwise, you're in the wrong forum buddy!

I just drove my 98 LX from San Diego, CA to Chicago, IL (about 2,200 miles) and averaged 17mpg for the trip. I was surprised! That was all highway though...

Ha! It was a typo, I did mean 2000LC. However......my wife wife and I each have a 100 series. When you add one 100 series to another 100 series that makes 200. Therefore I have a 200 series LC right? Can I stretch it that far?

That trip computer is not an accurate tool for caluculating fuel Econ.

You have to calculate that manually- starting full tank 1 click- miles traveled divided by gallons used to replace fuel to 1 click.

I bough my 100 last year (LX) and knew what to expect, but still laugh (sheepishly) at the poor gas mileage, especially now that I have over-sized AT's on it. What amazes me though is how many 200K+ mile trucks there are out there that were racked up at peak gas prices, in the middle of a recession. Man that must have stung!

same for me... PO drove 30k miles a year, 30k/14mpg= 2142 gallons used @ 4.00 a gallon = $8,568 a year for fuel.

What octane fuel do you guys use in your LCs? I just got mine and have been using 87 but I know some swear by other octane...

I've been using 87 in mine. Have had good mileage and no issues so far.
