Nice work!! the tundra transfer case has a passenger side drop, or did you swap the case?

And where did you get the engine?

Peace Out

01 landcruiser drivetrain t-case allready on the good side ;) ,was took of the ft line of an auto dealer and all they got back was a box of parts from police. so box of parts went into my 55

I thought TLC used a 3.4(I think) Tacoma motor in the Bandi.

Jason Mace has a turbo on his 2F and it fully gets it!

As for the Iforce, TLC in California put Tundra running gear under a 4dr Banderante last year and he told me that he would NEVER have done it if Toyota had not sponsored the swap.

He said it would be a nightmare to make the engine work with any other tranny/transfer setup.

I saw this on the pirate board for ya! http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=217647
I am installing the 1FZ and Oz 5speed in my 55 if you go that route. I just want to encourage you to go all Toyota(even though some of my projects aren't). I got into Landcruisers for their reliability and then see everyone going to Dana 60s, NV4500s, Ramjet 350s? I'll keep an open mind :D

Would the NASCAR V8 be for sale? I thought that the engine had to be available for the public.

why not just use a chebby eng if you wanted the nascar engine... pushrods and stuff, may as well get a cheap chevy if you want that kinda tech.

I was thinking all Toyota. If the NASCAR engine is carbed it might be cheaper than an
I-force

true, but could you imagine what a nascar spec engine would cost.

they developed that eng purely for nascar, so i don't think it'll appear in any civilian stuff soon. not when they got the I-force et al

dragging this up from the dead to see if anyone has completed the swap of an I-force into a fj-40?

I think that people that put chev V8's into a Land Cruiser should be beatin to death and left for the crows.

Sorry I'm J/K but it seems like it is just defeating the perpose, you want a chev motor buy a domestic POS and put it in there

After driving a Toyota V8 last weekend, I can't see the attraction. Seemed a bit anemic to me. I would have sold that truck in a heartbeat.

what you need to know?

I have to say, you are my hero and your Pig is my new favorite Cruiser. Bad ass.

Did you swap the complete drivetrain? Full time transfer? What did you use/keep etc. What did you do about motor mounts, etc. How is the power, performance, etc.

"Like Rock Taxi said, for the effort, you get what you pay for. A weak V8."

I'm seeing this side too. But in CA, your 1974+ swap has to be smog legal if it is registered street legal. So the 4.7 with all the modern goodies and the low emmission status should make a fairly easy registration with our DMV. At least this is my theory and I'm sticking to it until someone shoots me down.

Now I've seen a complete motor/tranny/transfer with around 40,000 mi. go for $1800, including the wiring harness. So if I see a deal like that, it will be hard to resist.

I know you're kidding, but do you realize the F/2F are copies of the Chevy inline 6 engine??????

I wouldn't waste my time or money for a I force v8 considering the cost/hp ratio.
A chevy fuel injected V8 will win hands down for cost, hp, torque, parts availability, and IMHO reliability. I have seen plenty of Chevy v8 engine with high miles.

Last thing I want/need is to have a part failure (water pump, alternator, thermostat, starter, heater hose, etc.,) in a small town looking for spare parts for an foreign engine.

The japanese don't copy.
They take a good design and improve on it.

Toyota, to my knowledge, had never made a pushrod V-type engine, at least based on the SBC

The VZ and UZ engine series has always been an overhead cam type engine.

If the Chevy V8 is such a good design, why had Toyota never put a SBC clone/upgrade into their vehicles?
