I got under my GX 2014 and did an oil change myself for the first time. I noticed the front bash plate/metal guard is missing. I bought this GX used last year.

Could this be a problem?

Does anyone else keep their plate off of the vehicle to service it?

Thanks!

I always put those back on. Even the plastic ones. They're part of the air flow the engineers designed and while they're not an off road skid plate they provide some protection. Even if you never go off road there can be objects on the road, like the rock that holed the oil pan on my Golf R.

Probably some service tech forgot to put it back on. You should be able to find one used from someone who has replaced it with aftermarket. One off a 4runner might fit.

Thanks for the input! I can probably track down a used one.

Or you can upgrade to a a metal one, either aluminum or steel.
Not sure which would cheaper, a plastic OEM Lexus skid plate or an after market metal one??
Unless you're trying to keep your rig as stock as possible, I'd check prices first before running down to your local Lexus dealer and buying one.

Good idea. I was thinking the same. An upgraded plate might be the way to go.

+1 on the Budbuilt... mine was one of the test mules on opposite coasts from where they are located

I just gave away all of my stock skids about a month ago on CL.... cleaning out garage and really could see no reason I would ever need them again. They were in perfect shape. My rig was originally out of southern California.

If you’re anywhere near Nebraska I have a full set of OEM plates that you could have.

Yeah I think I stuck my factory skid plate up in the rafters of the garage. You could have it but I'm a long way from you.

Check your local Cruiser club. Maybe someone upgraded theirs. I tried to give mine away for months before trashing it. :(
