1988 FJ62s, that is.:o

You may remember my post back on 2 May about sacrificing my FJ62s for the rights to buy our new 97 LX450.

So I've spent the last 5 weeks polishing our newer 88 and scrounging the basement for parts hidden from memory. Even found a few treasures from my long gone FJ55.

Changed the oil in both of the 62s, for the first time piercing the filter & experiencing no oil dripping down the side of the block. THANX MUD!

My:princess: has caused me to lapse twice now. The first time with We'll probably wish we'd kept one. They look more classic than the Lexus. The second was when she called home and asked It's beginning to hail here, do you want me to come home & drive a Land Cruiser to the car wash? The result is an insurance check for the damage to the LX.

I've spent one day photographing & tweeking pics for the auction; today was devoted to writing ad copy. Whew! Not wanting to auction my driveway & garage, I wheeled #2 up to KSU's Gardens & swung by Little Apple Toyota for picturesque backgrounds.

Thanx to Mudders,

I've learned quite a few things in my last couple years of ownership. Like vocabulary necessary for water pump replacement on a 3FE.:censor:

And how to install a stereo in a double din dash.

And to bite my tongue,

rather than to brag Bet you don't have one of these!

Not really a fond farewell,

as I don't know any of you well enough to be fond of yet.

And I'll post both FJ62 auctions in the 4 Sale section & review the 60-Series Wagon posts from time to time.

Again, I appreciate the opportunity to lurk, ask  questions, and share my limited :flipoff2: knowledge.

Happy Trails,
Joe

Beautific rigs you have there. Hope they find good homes.

why is the sun shade in the door frame?

Gamma ray protection. LOL

why is the sun shade in the door frame?

That's actually Reflextix, a roofing &/or ductwork insulation very similar to sun shades, but available in a 3 ft. X 50 ft. roll (and smaller dimensions) at HD, Lowes, lumber yard, etc.

Having some laying around after I used a section as a hood liner for a Samurai, I realized it had further possibilities for sound proofing.

In the case of my FJ62s, I took some measurements, and cut a section a few inches less than the door panel's dimensions; folded it up & with the window up, inserted it in one opening. I then unfolded it & used aluminum tape for ductwork to pin it slightly at the corners. I believe it is stiff enough that it would stay in place on its own once unfolded. Better safe than sorry.

I have not noticed significant reduction in heat coming thru the front doors, but my ears tell me it has improved the sound of say In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.

You made me look!

Best of luck w/the sale. You're gonna be saaad when they drive away.
