Toyota will sell enough of these things under both names to make it worth their time. Why do you guys keep questioning their decision making? It seems to be working to me, but my only evidence is they continue to sell more vehicles every year and turn huge profits.

The RR trumps it in everything but reliability.

Range Rover
34 degree approach
26 degree breakover
39 degree departure
10.8 ground clearance

This is in offroad mode. The air suspension will also move 1/2 an inch if the underbelly scrapes something.

Also availble with rear locking differentials whereas it is not available on the 08 LC.

Good god. The RR is a 5-seat POC. You can't compare a 8-seater to a 5.
Your RR specs are also in 4-low range (not Toys).
Good lord.

From a product offering, the LC is a unique bird. Why in the world would Toyota continue to offer this thing? The LX is nicer and then you have the Sequoia that is larger. Then you have all the other offerings available from the competition.

I say knock 25k off the price, install twin turbo diesel and front and rear lockers and then see what happens. Offer all off road accessories offered in other parts of the world.

Also, why would you make sliders for a truck to 4 wheel and then not sell the sliders?

Because the Seq rides and drives like a POC. Upscale owners would never settle for a Seq and Toyota knows it.

Screw the lockers and diesel. There will be a lift and ARB locker soon for this and we get all the improvements not found on a Seq or other SUV. WIN WIN for Toyota.

I laugh at the comparisons of this Cruiser to the 80-series. My god.....it's not the stone age.

As far as the constant negatives.....cost. Some cannot afford one and therefore SOME trash it.

Hell, I can probably get a sweet deal on an '07 LX !! Once I drive an '08 LC/LX I'll most likely like it. And remember....When you are driving it, you can't see how ugly it is !!!

:bounce::beer::bounce2:

As long as the Rover dealership has a loaner vehicle you are good to go. However the loaner rovers in NC have stupid stickers all over them of jungle scenes. A guy at work is always driving the loaner lr3.

Unfortunately for me the nearest LR dealership is 150 miles away. Having to take a car out of town for service is a pain. That's the only reason I ever considered a LC over the RR in the first place. If I had a local LR dealership I wouldn't give the LC a second thought. I have had 3 RR's and they have all been very good. Bash LR all you want, LC's cannot touch a RR for panache. You can't beat me in this ..I own LR's and LC's and I like them both but Toyotas are not in the same "class" as LR's. And a Lexus is just a dolled up Toyota. RR's are a higher end vehicle than a LC...Period !!Until I own a LR that is unreliable I'm not going to change my views on this.
:o

In a perfect world Toyota would sell a modern solid axle vehicle without all the "comforts". Oh wait, they do, just not in this country!

I'll be buying mine used:D Maybe 4 years of depreciation and I can have one too;)

To better state my point......for example, the rediculous Sienna comments.....

If those postees had this new Cruiser sitting in their driveways they'd shut up. But when you can't (or don't) make it happen....it's easy to put the thing down.

That might be true for some, but not all.

But then again stock value and making money in a Hawaiian shirt sipping on a drink with an umbrella is more important!

Well, I take that personally...

As a matter of fact, if that thing was in my driveway, I would sell it and use the money for a NICE 60 series. Why? Cuz I'm old school. I could care less how much it costs, I would not buy it.

Anything else you want to say about the "postees?':flipoff2:

ok i might get laughed at for this especially from the hardcore off roaders here but hey when you go to a parking lot I can pick out a lc or and lx in a minute same goes for the range rover and from any side of the vehicle with this new one except for the size it does look like a sienna or a rav 4. and if you are spending 70K on a vihicle you dont want it to look like everything else

and Toyota reliability trumps everything the RR has to offer.

That much money for a SUV? Everything had better work perfectly for the amount of money being spent. Toyota reliability all the way.

"Half the Land Rovers made are still on the road today...the rest made it home"

Whatever, you are putting Toyota on a pedestal where there is only one way it can go. Some of you would buy a turd if it said Toyota on it !!
