I am getting the sides of my truck herculined tomarrow. I was wondering what I should do? I was thinking about lining the fenders of course and then the rocker and side doors up to the body line like norcals but then I was thinking maybe keeping it a little more sleek and doing the fenders and just the rocker panel and not the doors. Or maybe just the fenders. What do yall think? It is a white rig and black herculiner so I don't know how it will look. Any suggestions on what I should get done? I definitly need it done cause my fenders look like crap now that I took off the flares. With all the bolts showing and stuff it looks terrible so I am really looking foward to getting this done.

I'd do the fenders and the rocker panels. Looks nice, also it looks good with grey bedliner but black would look tight too.

I would probably just do the fenders like you were thinking, but since you don't have sliders yet  I think you ought to consider doing the rockers as well.

Norcal's looks really good, IMO

stuck you doing this yourself? Bedliner is really easy to paint on, from the research I've done.

Yeah well I am getting the sliders in a couple of weeks. So I will probably just do the fenders. Cheaper too!

For those of you who've seen the NorCal group's Death Valley vid, you can see both my rig and fellow mud member Alvaro Rodriguez's rig. Alvaro's looks like mine, but is in grey. If you want an idea of how just the fenders would look, search through the archives for Mr. Kaderabek's 80. It's white with only the fender flare area shot with liner. FWIW, you don't have to watch the video to see his rig, there are pics of his truck on the same web page.

Sparky, it's all about personal preference rather than necessity for most people. I didn't have a choice because of where the Lexus body panels were on mine. That said, I do like how it turned out. Just shooting the fenders will cost less. Shooting the fenders and the doors will change the look of the rig.

Since you're getting sliders soon it's not much of a concern, however, on my truck, since I don't have front mud flaps, running boards, or sliders, the lower portions of my doors as well as the rocker panels have gone to hell from stone chips over the winter(had running boards prior to this winter). I'm contemplating doing the lower doors as well as the fenders(all told probably cheaper than replacing the flares I'm missing right now). Just can't figure out how it would look with black line-x on a green truck...

I saw that norcal vid and the pics on the site, the rig looks sweet with the grey bedliner.

Hey I couldn't find anything on Kaderabak's in the archive. But I think I will get just the flares done anyway. Kaderabak have a link you can give me?

I think it would look good. I saw a blue 80 with liner shot over the flares and on the body...which I wouldn't recommend...but it looked really good.

Hey Stuck, just to help out, there was a thread recently regarding how horrible herculiner is, dont do it man, get Line-X, I responded to that thread but basically my herculiner started degrading rapidly and looked awful in no time (well actually within 18 months or so). Again, just trying to help out but before you do something you regret, forget the herculiner and get Line-X or rhinoliner perhaps. HTH.

I've always liked the look w/o fender flares. I bet black would look good on my black Cruiser!! Where are you guys getting the shape from? Do you mark the old flare and then have the body shot where it used to be?

Yeah but I already told Urban Landcruiser I would have them do it and that is what they use. I hope it is good.

It's not difficult to tell. When the flare is gone, there's an obvious dirt/adhesive goo line. Once all that's cleaned off, there should be an oxidation line -- where the paint faded a little from being exposed to the sun as opposed to where it was covered by the flare.
