Underground mine truck, 9 seatbelted passenger, regular HZ 6 cyl inline diesel engine.

Locked in 4Low and normally 3rd gear allowing +- 40kph top speed. Now this does not seem fast on surface but try it on a spiralling 15 to 20 percent grade ramp with fog and life is whipping by.

The bars save damage from solid rock walls. and collisions with other vehicles.

Bloody Hell!! What line of work are you in?? Thats one serious bull bar. Looks like the front aproach angle has been seriously compromised?? The truck is the same shape (without the bull bar) as our new 70 series here so I assume its the V8??

Whats in the back??
AFAIK only oz and nz are getting the V8 for the time being. In countries or situations where pollution laws are not a concern, they get the old 6 cyl.
South Africa also get the 6cyl and I bet the UN are still getting them also.

You can tell them apart by the lack of bonnet scoop;)

I heard the 1st V8 diesel engine to disintegrate happened somewhere in the eastern states last month.
Toyota has taken it away for analysis which means we will never know the full story:rolleyes:

Good spotting Rosco, never thought of the bonnet scoop, and was not aware that the sixes were still being sold in the new shape.

Locked in low, and all that hill work, no wonder some of these things need parts in a hurry. And no wonder you guys rebuild them, they would need it.
Just bought a mine troopie for 1 of my staff at work. Was in a NZ mine near Auckland. 2003, 85,000ks. Has had water in the gearbox, and has a few dents and a bit of rust, especially around the windscreen. Will spend may be $5k on it, including rebuild the gearbox, and will do us for 200,000 plus I would think. Most of our work running is hot all day stuff so should love it. Need it for our remoter area, and a tonne of gear. Pretty light work compared to what you guys in Oz get upto I would think.

Not pleased to here of one of those V8s getting dealt to, have done 2500ks so far in my new one, and faultless to date. Have had 3 off road trips and I hate to say its a better truck than my old 75, ( so it should be) It just eats the steep stuff, and it does it so easy. Seems to be able to get the power to the ground better than the old 75.

Would appreciate any news you have on the V8s Rosco.

Thanks Rosco, did not intend to Hi jack the thread. Will post some comments under the New 70 series V8 thread.

Interesting to see some weights of your 75 series especially with the decks and canopys. My old 75 fully fuelled, with 40 litres spare fuel. 40 litres water, ALL of my recovery gear, which is not all that you guys would carry I would think, but pretty extensive. Camping gear to be comfortable and tucker for 3 days came in at 2.7 tonnes. Never weighed it empty. Handled it well, still enough power etc to climb well, just did not like the wet soft muddy stuff. I was not running big tyres though just standard size 235/85 16s
