Hi all - I hate that this is my first post, but I'm in a bit of a bind. I have a 1986 LJ71 JDM 5-speed 2.4L turbodiesel that is currently out of commission because of the transmission. I need a new slave cylinder and possibly a new rod. I've already searched to the best of my abilities here and have come up dry. I found this part online and ordered it to see if it will work. I would appreciate any thoughts on if you think it will and/or if there are other places I can look for parts. You all know it can be a nightmare. But, you're also the experts, and this amateur would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hello,

As you know already, most of these parts are discontinued.

One option is trying a part from a newer model.

You can try a newer slave cylinder. The part number is 31470-60171. It may work.

Another option is a slave cylinder from a 90 Series Prado or a Hilux.

Yet another option is trying a replacement part from AISIN or Denso.

Hope this helps.

Look around as these have been around for a long time.
My 1995 Hdj80 uses a 2023 hzj79 slave.
Dimensions are identical, minor hose configuration which is better in my view.

Here is a rebuild kit. Notice how it fits every Toyota in North America. Therefore try getting your hands on either a rebuild kit or one of the models posted.
