I am finishing my H55 swap and thought I would share a few things I have encountered. First of all this is just an addendum to the FAQ thread by @ATL Cruiser. Without that thread and info he shared with me via pms, I probably would not have been able to do this project.
I will share some hurdles/observations and solutions over the next few posts.
Overview of my thoughts to start with:
1. You can use your current trans plate stiffeners
2. Source the bolt in clutch box/pedal he used. There is absolutely no need for a booster, it is a very easy to press clutch.
3. The RH gussets (51321-60090) for the coss member to bolt to are not available anywhere I could find (partsouq, megazip, amayama, toyotapartsdeal, etc…). So i bought 4 LH gussets ( 51322-60080) and used a die grinder to oblong the holes in the cross member to fit the gussets.
4. It was so helpful to have a bolt/small parts pn list from that thread to source.
5. I used my factory brake pedal and just modified it to be clutch friendly.
6. I used a twin stick tcase shift kit. Im on the fence so far. Seems like every time i think i have it right I hit a wall and need to bend s*** again.
7. @Zee was imperative to sourcing the console/clutch pedal/clutch line I needed. I have not started installing the interior yet. Will update as I get there.
8. The wiring harness from @cruisermatt was so nice - plug and play to keep everything working together properly.
9. @cruiseroutfitter has been so nice to deal with on the project. I will update on the tcase gearing I ended up going with later on.
That’s everything off the top of my head for now. I will add pics of certain things over the next few days. Hopefully it will help someone sometime. I agree with what Wes said in his FAQ post, its not cheap and its not easy. Oh well, its just money and time I suppose.
