Hey guys,

So I have a manual GXL 2000 HZJ105r, great maintenance history.

Today I have noticed a constant clunking sound when in reverse, and it's only in reverse.

I select reverse gear, and it goes in easily. When I let the clutch out and start slowly I can't hear it. Once I speed up I can really hear this constant clunking sound, I am not sure if it speeds up as I go faster. I only noticed it because I reversed down a car park at the train station.

If I depress the clutch after moving in reverse, I can hear this strange whining noise straight afterwards.

I was thinking it could be a broken gear tooth, but I don't think that it is a constant enough sound to be that. You can easily count how many shunting noises there are and the noise becomes different what the clutch is depressed before disappearing.

No noise while the vehicle is stopped, clutch depressed and reverse gear selected.

No other noises while driving straight.

I'm super confused, what could this be?
