hey guys, recently got my 89 fj-62 back from the shop and had them take a look at my hubs for me beacuse my 4-wheel drive has been messing up recentley. They told me my hubs were all torn up on the inside and they would fix it for about $750:doh:...i might be young but i think i know a ripoff when i hear one...could anyone post a link to a place with the new hubs that i need to order. I can find warn hubs up till 1987 but it stops there. And do i even want warn hubs? Other posts have said that Asisn(sp) are the best but i cant find those. Im open to any ideas. Appreciate it.

Its hard to believe that they are destroyed, but if they are cruiserparts.net has them for 50 bucks a pop. 2 cents.

Ok, do they spin from Free to Lock pretty easily? Do they go into the Lock position with an audible "click"? Do you have a FSM? The hubs on your 62 are pretty damn tough and easy to rebuild. I cannot imagine anything that would destroy them.

when i got the rig used up in memphis i drove it all the way back to atlanta to learn that he had the hubs in the lock position...there is no telling how long they were driven like...could that have caused everything in there to bust?

No, probably not. It would be just like having full time hubs.

I don't believe they are 'busted'. What's in there that can break? Not much. There's a spring, and a follower pawl.... Maybe your 4x4 button isn't working right? I know there's a common vacuum problem with 62's...

SOR, MAF, CruiserParts, CruiserDan all have hub rebuild kits & parts. Only tricky move is getting the tapered "split" washers out (requires a brass drift, they say, but I did it without). "New" hot setup is to use studs with "reverse Torx" (forget the formal name). Makes 'em easier to install (like double-nutting is hard).

If those so-called mechanics could make more money doing something else, they wouldn't be mechanics. Guess what profession is the least-trusted in the US? Ain't lawyers!

That would be............ NURSES!:bounce:

Nah, nurses aren't even on the list. It's mechanics, brainaic! Lawyers are #7.
