Looking at an SA spec FJ. 2F with good compression numbers all in the 140s. 5 speed tranny. Transfer case and locking hubs all there. Frame is good until this….

Looks like the front shock towers were cut off and replaced with hoops welded further back on the frame. The lower shocks are mounted by using the factory rear mounts.

Wiring has been sorted. Many new factory parts. Definitely diamond plated tub skim coated. A 15 footer if you willl.

Here are the items in question. Any feedback is welcomed. Thanks

Haha. Thanks. Do you think it could be converted back to factory with some new parts and welding?
Certainly just about anything is possible with enough time and money. But, when I look at the photos the phrase “Rode hard. Put away wet.” comes to mind. I also look at the incredibly lame attempt to make it more presentable.

I have no idea what the seller is asking, but in my experience the best value is rarely the cheapest. North American spec FJ40s are worth more in the US than ones from South America. I don’t see that changing. No matter what you do, this will always be a South American FJ40.

Is the five speed an H55F with a 40 series top cover? FJ does say much. Assume it's a 40 series in this section. People seem to think FJ cover only 49 series and all 40 series. If it's a FJ40 would pass automatically. 43 or 45LV would look further but still most likely no with any diamond plate.

What is it? A pillar seam looks 1/79 plus. Running board looks earlier. Bib is pre 79. Can't tell much with the inside covered.

Is the seller the importer/restorer or a person who bought it and now selling it?
It’s advertised as 1979.

The seller bought it off a guy in their hometown, who had it covered in his yard for 4-5 years. I guess as the story goes it came to the NE from Florida.

This is the pic the seller showed me as it sat when he showed up to buy it.

Those shock hoops are butchery, the wallered out holes in the frame same, and the steering conversion could be ok. whomever got ahold of that thing may have done other less than stellar work. Its all the little things like wiring, knobs, seals, drivetrain, brakes, fuel system that will add a ton to the refurbish costs so inspection of that stuff is important- window cranks, handles, hinges, etc.... what carb is on it, exhaust ?

just looked at the pics again,
fenders seem wider??
turn signals in the wrong location on fender
driver side body behind running board is off, the running board seems lower than it should be

extra holes from a previous steering box? in the frame rail

problem is what you DONT see.... hoops are prob the best of the worst

Asking price?
