Hey guys,

The 60 im getting has a "lock, un-lock" button in the middle of the dash, just wondering if the 60 has a diff lock. Is there a way of telling, for eg. Jacking it up and turning wheels ???
Other wise i've got no idea what the button is for :slap:, might have to trace the wires

go to gravel parking lot, put it in 4wd, lock that button or whatever, and drive in hard circle, if the inner wheel(s) scrub then you got lockers.

Also-look at the axles, its easy to tell if it has an e-locker setup as the servo and wiring chit is mounted externally.

is it s 60 or 62? I am betting its a fj62.....

Nah, it's a 60. 84' 2f, all compliance plates and engine numbers match, what diff set-ups are standard in these things (in Australia) ???

Didn't the factory diff locks require the full floater axle? Are all the Aussie 60s full floaters? The factory diff locks are cable operated aren't they? The controls for the lockers are levers mounted down near the parking brake - I think - never seen 'em in person.

60Wag, you are correct on all points.

in a 60(2) outside of the North America, you could get cable lockers(only came with both) or rear limited slip( i hear its pretty worthless)

What you have in your 60 is prolly not OEM, but it might be an ARB or even an early ARB called a Roberts Air Locker, might even be a vacuum locker(forget the name). or it might be that your AUS spec 60 has the same 4x4 set up as a US fj62, which would meen that the swtich on the dash it to lock it in to high range not a locking diff.

If you still think its a locker, it must be a E locker or Air locker, so look at the rear(and or front) diff and look for a line entering the diff housing.

Macnamara-also an aussie outfit.

Easy way to tell....Jack up both wheels, put it in neutral (hope you have the front blocked), turn a wheel. If the other one turns in the same direction...you got some type of locker, if the opp. wheel turns in the opposite direction...you got an open diff. (Get a lock-rite, LA locker, or what ever they're called now days...it's cheap [get to keep your carrier...meanin' ya on't have to re-adjust the ring & pinion], they're strong & they work).

I hate to suggest it, but this could be 'cosmetic'. I mean, not connected to anything. I'd just...

1. Open the hood and see if there is an air compressor.

2. If yes, see if it's hooked up and works. If no, trace the switch wiring to see where it goes. I mean does it control any load at all?

3. Check the front and rear diffs for either wiring and an electrical fitting or airline and an air fitting.

4. If there are no fittings - you COULD have a locker in there, but not switchable on demand.

Did the PO tell you that your truck had a locker?
