How to remove roof rib glue?

The metal underneath the roof rack feet usually has some rust developing. Also, the stock roof rack is fairly useless with heavy items (e.g. boats, bikes, tires, etc.). I prefer the cleaner look, as well.

Gotcha. I'd better take a closer look at mine. I was hoping I could just leave the OEM rack on when I installed a taller aftermarket one, but I'll check for signs of rust first. Thanks!

You will have rust... it's just a matter of how much. You'll also find the feet of the rack have worn through the paint. Again, it's just a matter of how much.

I'm with you on this. I have a guy in Australia looking to ship me a set of barn doors with the latches and hinges. I'll let you know how it works out. I'm thinking about buying a body, taking my time making it ossie spec then swapping it over. I'm also thinking about dune beige as the color. We'll see.

24, we are definitely on the same wavelength! I was planning on dune beige, but changed my mind to 464 beige - a little lighter. Ideally, I'd have Toyota 16x6 steelies, 255/85's, barn doors, hand-crank windows, etc... I think in a couple of months I'll have "old Suzy" as close to ideal as she's gonna get.

All that "Aussie-spec" stuff is just to make things less likely to break. It would be cool, but not something I want to spend a lot of extra dough on right now, though.
