I have done a search and can't really find a clear write up on how to do this on a 97. I am removing to prep for paint so I don't want to mess around and break them. Any help would be great.

vents on the back are preety easy to break the clips (they push up , its a tricky one) , once you master that it is slide window forward push out as unit with aid to the rubber , your body guy should take 5 min a side. i thought guys just masked the window .

Yeah I kinda am the body guy. I am stripping out side and inside to get a good guy. I figure I prep and he prep = good paint job. Plus I think have some rust around my sliding windows.

Wow gotta love auto fill function on phones! I am stripping inside and outside of my car to get a good paint job.

I don't think my wife and kids have to worry about me sneaking off to The Blue Oyster wearing assless chaps.

I'm having FZJ repainted and sliders swapped to solid. My body guy said it took him 2 hours each side to do it. Major PITA he said, and he is uber patient. Broke a few trim vent clips in the struggle.

Couple threads here on Mud on how to DIY it

k i am no mechanic or body guy, but i have swapped a few out . after the one screw bellow i think, there are 2 sliding clips one in the middle and one up near the top . you have to push in and slide the vent up ,it really wants to rub the body there if you put some type of a giude there plastic knife is what i use and push in where you think the clip is and up . i broke my first one and crazy glued it back together . make sure you study that one so you understand it before you do the other one. with the windows if you slide it forward it gives you a little more flex in working the rubber and frame outward ,once the rubber gets away from around the upper back corner its pretty easy the top tips out first ,and it stays as a unit, install the reverse with a little soapy water . although there is a local guy lance here who uses jergens .

There's been a thread or two with photos on removal of those windows IIRC??

Pictures definetly would be nice. I did a search and found a writeup with pics for removal on a 60.

Anyone have any tips on doing this. I am just about done prepping for paint and I would hate not to do this. I have have peeled back the outer gasket and the aluminum frame is flaking like a biscuit.I want to take care of all issue now. I will also dropped post up in paint and body. Thanks for your help!

Yeah I followed it and I think admin might have deleted it. I even asked Cruiser Dan when I put a parts order in this week and he wasn't 100% sure.

Thank you so much! I have a Chilton's which hasn't been much help.

Thanks goes to El Pollo Loco (sp?) for doing and mkfour for referring in a PM.

I'm still trying to get my hands on a 97LX FSM, and also trying to determine the difference between the rear sliding windows on the LC and LX.

I'm in a similar plight as yours, and bought all new door, rear glass, windshield seals from Beno, but he stated the part numbers for the LC and LX rear sliders differ and weren't listed as interchangeable.

Can't get the LX seals, so trying to determine through threads like these, what's different.

When you pull yours, please take lots of pics and post.

Yes sir, you got it. I probably need to start a build thread. I might call it "Anyone need anything from Macy's or Bath and Body Works?" Because I am going straight mall cruiser. I have 2 small kids so that is my reality right now. I have stripped interior and doing sound outside deadening and I audio/ video upgrades. And a full paint job.

I am truly going to throw this phone through a wall! I am doing sound deadener inside and a/v upgrades.

Dude your first auto correct issue in this thread still has me laughing 5 minutes later (yes, I'm easily amused).
