greetings all
i recently purchased an 8274 and oem snorkel for my '84 bj 60 ($500 score!) and am looking for design , materials and construction for mounting my winch in the front of my 60 behind a large aluninum bull bar . as long a i can make a mount for the winch attaching to the front frame rails i am assuming the bumper and fairlead can just float out in front .
sugestions and pics are appreciated .

Hi All:

Send that tin-can aluminum bull bar to the recyclers and purchase an ARB steel 60 Series bull bar set-up for a Warn M8274! :D

Seriously, you could have a good welder/fabricator build a winch mount for the M8274 while also keeping the aluminum bull bar.

This is a great electric winch; well worth the effort to make it work on your rig!!

Regards,

Alan

i mounted a steel box off the frame rails to bolt my winch to and the used it as a skeleton to bolt a 1/4" checkerplate alloy bumper on top of. this avoids rust and keeps it lighter, some pics of the 60 and the 80 with 8274.

i work in a shop that specalizes in aluminum so i prefer that to the arb . thanks for the sugestion but i am keeping it . as for paying a welder that will be done for a box of beer so all is well . i am looking for design and fabrication ideas thanx .

if you use aluminum as the main body i would still use steel for winching points and winch support.

The first bumper I built was all steel and weighed alot, I beat on the cruiser pretty hard and ended up with cracked leaves. Its good if you can have the best of both metals i guess...
