how to install new outer door weather strip

hey ordered oem new rubber for inside door where glass goes into - oem rubber strip for the (outside) of door where arm lays (oem inside no longer available) came with plastic pieces that snap into inside of door some way -- here is the problem i am having i have the chrome strip for outside of door and the new oem rubber strip now what do i do ------ holes dont line up in door do both pieces connect then put them in the door -- i cant figure it out and dont want to mess it up -

When I pulled mine out for paint, the chrome strip and rubber strip came off as one piece and went back on as one piece. Mine had metal clips holding them together that also slid down into the slits in the door.

didnt see any metal clips my truck has been repainted but i can tell the rubber wasnt removed
