Hi all.

I tried using ih8mud's search to find any relevant posts about how to get the power antenna working with an aftermarket stereo/head unit but I had no luck.

I'm asking if anyone can help me understand how to get the power antenna working on a 99 LC using with this Sony XAVAX1000 head unit.

Just a little background info:
I have a 97 LC with the same head unit where I was able to get the power antenna working but the Metra adapter I used is different from the adapter that should be used in a 99 LC.

Note* the only adapter that appears to specifically connect with a 99 LC at least is Metra 70-8112 from my experience.

Branden

A bit off topic, but something to consider:

In a previous vehicle, there was a relay that took a 12v signal to actuate the antenna going up. Removing that 12v signal pulled it down.

To protect the antenna when off-road, I put a switch inline with the 12v to the relay so that I could have the radio on (bluetooth to my phone) but keep the antenna down.

I replaced the stock non-nav head unit in my '00 LC100 with a Kenwood dmx1075xr. It had an antenna wire in the harness, and the stock antenna goes up when the unit powers on, down when it powers off. But it doesn't go down if you switch from radio to another source. Of course, you can still lower the antenna manually with the dash controls.

These were the two parts I needed to combine the two antenna wires into one:

If I remember correctly from my XAV-AX1000 install, the Sony harness did not have a dedicated “Antenna Trigger”, so I connected the head unit’s “remote out” to both the “Amp Trigger” and the “Ant Trigger” on the vehicle side.

This worked? I have the same unit and was trying to figure that out. Smart.

As @skink mentioned above, it doesn’t quite have the same “intelligence” as the OE head unit, but it does (kinda) work.

I also used a Y-cable & and adapter to connect the two factory “diversity” antennas to the head unit, again as @skink posted above.

I know it's dated, but I just made the connection via the Y cable and adapter and still no power to the antenna. It's a Kenwood unit if it matters. Is there something else that needs to happen?

If it helps anyone the blue antenna power wire from my harness was unconnected and there was no blue wire coming from my Kenwood head unit. I connected it with the blue/white wire for 12V of power and it got it working.
