Searching did not yield a thread. Yes, you can switch to "power" on transmission or move shifter to non-D but I find the silly green light distracting in normal driving at night. I have heard rumors that there is a procedure for deactivating it. I could not find it in manual.

TIA

You can turn it off with the Toyota scan tool. Any Toyota dealer should be able to do it. Just go into the "Customize Settings" and set the light to "OFF". It doesn't actually change anything but the light won't come on anymore.

I mean that it doesn't change the shifting or ecu programming for the trans. Only the light.

I found it in the online manual on the ToyotaOwners site. See page 3 in the attached pdf.

<disclaimer> I have not tried this myself

Sam and Elkaholic,
Many thanks. The procedure in your link works exactly as stated. Not the first time you have helped me Elkaholic. Perhaps others will get some use out of this question and answer.

Glad it worked. I may have to try it myself as the ECO light is unusual in the way it works. If you run with cruise control, it will stay on, even if the truck is at WOT

Thanks, elkaholic - great tip!

Bumping this thread up as I'm sure there are new owners out there.

I've attached a screenshot of the owners manual for a 2014 in case you don't want to download anything.

It's hilarious that they felt it was worthwhile to even put it in the design of a dash cluster destined for a Land Cruiser. Someone at Toyota laughs every time he thinks about getting that one through the design phase. :hmm:

The ECO light on a 200 series simply gives a bunch of false hope. It's similar to the "D" gear indicator light on 100 series in that the glare at night drives me nuts. The fix is removal, which was done a long time ago.

Can other indicators be turned off with the factory tool? Persistent indicators that systems are functioning normally is one of my biggest gripes.

This was one of my few gripes about the new 16/17s after test driving them.

As an FYI to and 16+ owners, the "hold the odometer" method no longer works for the eco light. The deactivation can now be found in the settings menue in the driver information display In the instrument cluster.

Thank you. I will try that. I couldn't find it in techstream and the other way didn't work.

Which brings me back the the dealer reset to 10,000 miles. That also doesn't work the way it's described prior to 2016 in the video. Anyone know that one?

Curious if you found a solution to turning off these lights. This is also an annoyance of mine, I don’t need lights flashing at me unless something needs my attention.

Thank you Sir,I was getting ready to tear my dash apart thinking the lamp burned out. Personally I find it useful in that it helps me keep a lighter skinny pedal.
