Since I've started looking recently, seems the left tailgate cable hanging out is a popular option. I've noticed more and more.

Any of you have this issue?

I was wondering when someone would post about this. On my 08 it happens all the time in the cold weather, almost not at all in the summer.

Could you take out the bolt that holds one side, twist the cable a half of a revolution, and bolt it back down?

All the time. But mine has the right side option. Nothing I've done keeps it in.

Happens with my LX all the time. My old 100 never had this issue.

One thing I don't understand is that there is some kind of solenoid in the LX lower tailgate that I can hear actuating but have no idea what it is doing. At first I hoped that the lower tailgate may have a powered close like the one on the 2014 Range Rover I was considered. It apparently is not. Any idea what the solenoid is doing?

I believe the stranded cable that's used is wound clockwise thus wanting to naturally loosen counter clockwise. Which is ok for the right side of the tailgate.

That or the evil Dick Cheney and Fox New are behind this all.......

Thats what I am getting at...

Take the bolt out, rotate the cable along its axis 1/2 a rotation, and put the bolt back in. This should overcome the cable's natural tendency to twist in the direction of the winds.

I'm afraid I might pinch my fingers in the tailgate..... though.........

I'm considering just buying a new Cruiser and be done with this one. This cable thing has me flummoxed.
I still think Dick Cheney might be behind it;)

Why is it that Dukmon's threads always end up being comedy threads?
