I have searched and have not been able to find anything on someone putting 315/75/16 on stock rims under a 2.5 OME lift only. I'm going to put lockers and gears in a 97 real soon and I have no problem cutting into the body to fit the big tires under it. I guess I would possible need to put larger bumpstops in it. I have read and re-read Slee's articles where he has had to use spacers along with the lift to make these tires work, but he has driveshaft problems. I say this because he has had to change the trailing arms to make it work. I am looking for the greatest amount of ground clearance without gettting into the expensive driveshaft situations. Are the tires too big and are they going to rub on the inside of the fender well where I can't do any sheet metal cutting? What size and where would I get a longer bumpstop to make this work?
I am aware that bumpstops will limit suspension travel but a smooth riding rig without driveshaft problems is more important to me.
I sold my 98 taco and bought a 97 80 about 5 months ago because my old lady insists on bring my 2+ year old daughter on vacation with us now. I still think that our two dogs are much more capable at babysitting than she realizes. Anyway, Thanks for the previous information I scammed off this great website before, and thanks in advance for any help you can offer me now.
