How much movement in the drivetrain is acceptable(motor/tranny mounts)??

I've noticed that when I crest a hill at speed(the kind that makes your stomach feel weird) and I have my hand on the t-case shifter, it feels like the shifter is moving up a bit and the sitting back down. Also when I accelerate from a stop with any enthusiasm the shifter torques over a good 1/4-3/8". Is this stuff normal or do I need to replace motor/tranny mounts??

Serious OCD possible?

kept coming didn't ya....................................... :flipoff2:

I have had two 2WD 4Runners ('97,00), and under power both AT shifters moved a bit with the torque applied.....I think some movement comes standard...

reffug :flipoff2:

I'm just trying to get EVERYTHING that could possibly go wrong with the truck in the next 6 months done beforehand. I've got the luxury of a driveway and garage until the 3rd week of January at which point I'll be wrenching in an apartment complex parking lot......

The part that concerns me is the movement when cresting hills more than the movement under load. The shifter literally comes up, how much I don't know 'cause I don't crest hills that much. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it. I was more bored at work than anything :flipoff2:

If the shifter is actually rising up, something isn't right. I'm not smart enough to say what that could be but I ain't dumb enough to think thats aw' right. Maybe -B- knows or go watch a b movie........ :whoops:
