My 05 is starting to have some little issues. Just had to Bypass the secondary air injection. Now some O2 sensors. She has 155k drives like a dream . Just put some oversized duratracs and bilstein shocks. But before I invest more I would like to hear about common MX items for GXs over 155k miles. Also how many miles do you have on your GX?
Cheers Fr8dawg

i dont think any GX with routine maintenance have expired....

edit: Sorry I really only read your Title and went back and read your post. These rigs will last you a long time

~202k. Secondary air bypass at 197k, tie rod ends at 195k, power steering reservoir/soft lines (needed lines but the resi was cheap) at 194k, AC compressor at 186k.

My timing belt was done by the previous owner at 120k, so I'm coming up on that. I will likely do the alternator and starter preventatively sometime next year.

How much was the power steering related stuff to replace?

TOYOTA OEM Pump Hoses-Steering-Reservoir Hose 4434835250 $33.18
CARDONE SELECT 3R111 (3R-111) Power Steering Reservoir $54.79
Sunsong 3401257 Power Steering Return Hose $25.79

I didn't need a reservoir, but the plastic was discolored on mine so I bought a new one.

Like any mechanical device, They need service and maintenance. I have an 04 GX with only 73,000 miles. I did go through and do all the mechanical, TB, WP, Radiator, Plugs, Coils, Hoses, Belts, Etc. We are converting it into our Overland Vehicle for our home in Tucson, AZ.
We have an old 2001 4Runner that has almost 300,000 miles on her. I am hoping we get that out of the GX. You should be fine with only 150,000, some guys have 300,000 or better and are still driving them, even "Off Road".

I maintain mine regularly (fluids, grease, brakes, etc) but I have over 200k and I have wheeled almost 50k miles in the last 120k. They take a licking.

I have a V8 4Runner, exact same truck mechanically, with 286k. Drives a dream. Besides timing belt changes, wheel bearings, tie rods ends, CV Boots, and the occasional seal or gasket its required nothing major.

I’ve got 284,000 on my 2004 thing runs perfectly no major issues ever other then routine maintence stuff. The only issue I have is the my gauges are acting up the tach and temp gauges work when they want to

I have 240000 on mine still running strong. It needs maintenance but when new are priced like homes I will never buy new. And gx are such great land yachts.

Thats awesome. I think at 160k its just being broken in hopefully. I have to put a new drivers side Cat in but still the cost for a new 460 is way too much. Besides there is not really a vehicle I would like to have. Thanks for the info

195k and counting on mine. Just performed the t-belt/water pump service along with both radiator hoses. Other than the “normal” actuator leak repair, mine has been outstanding. Perform the required maintenance and it will go forever (or close to it).

Well another cold morning with some nasty Codes (P 0172/175) and the P420 Code remains until I get the driver side cat. Off to buy a new MAF and hope it fixes the problem on these cold mornings. More money being used on MX instead of lift and upgrades.
