Hay guys dose any 1 know how do u fully waterproof a 3F petrol motor in a fj73 . Can u buy a waterproof kit for them. Mine dies at the sight of water:crybaby:

Uh, run a diesel?

Any time you have thousands of volts running through something and then you mix it in with water, you're going to have troubles.

You need to figure out which wet components are causing your grief and go after them for fresh sealing or replacement.

There is no waterproofing kit per se, but there are thing you can do to make it a bit better.

You cant "waterproof" a petrol engine entirely but I know the russians can keep their little Lada Nivas underwater for 20-30 mins with the engine running.
They use rubber gloves over the distributor and silicon everything possible and òf course have a snorkle

buy all new wires or make sure the original are in excellent shape
wash the engine completely and let dry to get all the oils off the wires and conections.
use anti ox on all the connections and reinstall
spray LIBERALLY all connections with spray silicone
then put a bag over the distributor and duct tap

looks silly but works like a damn.

the 3F is similar to the 2F and for decades i would take the FJ40 where the diesels feared to play. make sure you spray the coil and feed wire very well.

Got it

Hay guys thanks for all ur help but being handy with the old mig and tig I mad a boxes with rubber gromits and a lot of silicon to waterproof the dizzy and used small radiator clams on the spark plug cover to seal them to the spark plug . Took it throw a swamp patch on my property and the only thing I need now it a snorkel:D
