Hi All,

I'm interested in registering a mine truck for on road BC use. Anyone have an idea on what I have to do? What to look out for etc. I'd be grateful for some advice.

Cheers,

John

Further on this - its left up to me to determine a price for this truck. It's rusty, and it runs. Rough is what I would call it. Thoughts on pricing would b useful too.

Cheers,

john

Hi

I don't know the answer to your question but i'm curious how you got a hold of a mine truck?

Found it by accident on a visit to my parents. I'm having my insurance agent find out if I can register it as a ubuilt with some mods.

if its older than 15 years it no issue technically. Same thing as importing a rhd.

You must have a bill of sale.

Pass a provincial inspection.

You would go to ICBC and they would have to call in because they would have to copy the original vin like on your 73 both on the firewall plate and frame plate.

Pay your taxes

Thats not a rough mine truck, but this is :)

I hope that bicycle ( under the front wheel well) was not what he intented to use to get home.:) ..............1978HJ45

The truck is a 2004. I can register it a ubuilt. I need to provide invoices and records as to where the parts came from, get a BC VIN, get it safetied, and then good to go.

Not really all that hard.

Cheers,

John

A 2004! Thats cool. Was it already used in a mine? what kind of shape is it in? Pics when you can :)

My dad has an hj45 waiting for me in Geneva Switzerland, It was used as a work truck on the tree nursery that he managed. One day I'm going to import it to Canada:bounce::bounce2:

Does it have a registration title or a salvage title, used Toyota mine trucks are sold under a salvage title which means you cannot register and insure it for the roads in Canada or the US it can be used on farms but not driven on the road.
If it has a title of registaration it is easy to certify it, all you have to do is modify it to meet all the requirements for the year of the vehicle there are many certified shops that certify imports...being a 2004 you may have alot of redtape and hurdles to go through and may not be worth the cost.
If you are set on it you may want to try swapping the body onto a registered mini truck frame or something similar IIR a 80s frame will work also and then have it registered as a U-Built or modified.

Get it inspected and register as a U build. Pretty easy!

missed: Form 1 is needed, just like JDM imports ...
