My 2014 LX 5470 front grill color is faded especially after I tried to polish it. Is there a way I can find a matching color so I can re-spray?

Recently refinished mine, I just carried out dupli-color caps from my auto parts store to find the closest. While it isn't a perfect match, the color difference to the lower grill isn't notticeable. The texture from a home paint job is noticeable upon close inspection.

Plan on pulling the grill. The chrome strips have clips, but I don't think they're designed to release. Ended up just taping my chrome. Careful sanding, adhesion promoter, paint, matte clear coat and I'm pretty happy with the result.

They release great when new. After 10 years of sun and weather, and 100k miles of grit, being baked from one side by an ac condenser… not so much.

I managed to get most of mine loose without breaking but was halfway through when I decided I would have been better off with careful masking.

Pictures if you don't mind?

This seems like a much more attractive route than the "Raptor" grill that is floating around. While that looks cool on certain rigs that are heavily modded, less than stellar on a stockish LX.

I definitely need to do mine, but I am leaning towards plasti-dip. I’ve heard people complain about it not holding up on a frontal area, but I’ve had the opposite experience. I think the trick is to lay it on thick, and then it won’t peel or chip.

I deleted the before photos, but it was in worse condition that Charlie's photo above. Radar badge buldge and the top of the fins was cooked from Utah sun. Far from perfect, but it doesn't catch my eye anymore.

That's pretty darn good. It's hard not to compare to new stock, but a more fair comparison is the faded one you started with. Well done.

You could just replace it. Wasn't too hard to do on my old 2009 LX570. Fairly straight forward.
