FJ40 F engine..where the steel fuel line passes between the water pump thermostat housing and front of the valve cover...cool up to that point and very hot from that point to carb. Noticing a little vapor lock. What do you recommend for a 3-4" insulator to go around the fuel line to protect the line from the heat? I think asbestos is out of the question...and cant find any. Engine runs at 190 and never overheats. Pic below shows the line. Thanks, love this site.

how about wrapping it with a piece of rubber hose? Cut a slit the length of the hose and slip it over - it would be worth a try for $3.

NICE! engine bay, Tex. I used this shiny insulation material. Common at most auto parts store. Secured it using zip-ties. Does the job well.

Is that header wrap?

asbestos!

What you could probably use is a carb fan. Check the fuel level in the carb sight glass after you park a half hour later.

No sight glass window on a Weber.... :meh:

I will go to the auto parts store and ask for "header wrap". Poser, my carb is not a weber..it is an original aisen and it does have the sight glass. Yes, I looked for asbestos and could not find any...outlawed I guess. I tried a rubber hose, but that just soaked up the heat and the fuel line remained hot. Thanks folks!

Hi Tex, just a fussy little obsevation. It looks like you are using water hose for the pcv and valve cover vent lines. While a common practice, a oil resistant hose would be a better application for that purpose. Water hose is not known for its' resistance to oil anfd will break down over time.
