I've been trying to get close to the to photo of Trail Tailor FJ60 paint on Blue #2. 1st photo above is from his build thread.

Still working. This takes way more time than I thought. A more appropriate workspace would help. It started snowing here, so I am taking a break today. Hoping to finish sanding for paint on the truck tomorrow. Also looking to finish sanding all the trim pieces, spray with etching primer, and paint SEM Trim Black. Lets see if I can get that done by Monday.

Got some painting done today. Did a little sanding too. The wife took her boards exam for naturopathic pharmacology today so I could work for some time and hang out with her after her test.

These images show some of the major rust repairs done. All of the doors required some sort of work as well. The roof needed some rust mort and sanding. I did not give into chopping out roof sections and replacing. There were people rust areas and lots of dents. I stood inside the truck and pressed my shoulders into the dents to push them up.

The door rust was bad. It was bad enough that I finally got the confidence and ambition to take care of it because I couldn't make it much worse. Plus, if I did, I could chop out and start over. Working on the doors also gave me confidence to start the quarter panel work. The other thing with doors is you can still find them. Although lots of doors I saw out there were only marginally better than mine and folks are asking $300 for them without any parts on them. Shells only, but I knew I could find them if I really F'd it up.

Primer was done in the back yard temporary garage from harbor freight. Idaho has had a mild winter so far.

I did all the chrome with SEM Trim Black in aerosol can. Even the chrome around the windows on the doors got the same treatment. I painted it the original Toyota Color code 155: dark metallic grey.

I had to wait 5 days for weather to improve to paint the body. The wind, rain, and cold temps were only going to compound all the other struggles of trying to paint a car in the back yard. The photo above shows the Honey Badger waiting to roll into the paint booth. I deflated it and waited out the storm.

The inflatable paint booth worked out pretty well. The windows helped warm it up in the sunlight with a little greenhouse affect.

Well.... Just after I snapped the above photos, my transmission started leaking fluid at a rapid rate. I thought all my drivetrain issues were over since I did an engine swap from a newer 3FE (out of an 80s series). Turned out the torque converter are different and the seal must have gotten all wallered out. So I had planned on being busy with work travels (this was right before the virus went viral) and I took it to South to North Land Cruisers. They gave me a couple options and one was what I've always wanted anyways. So they installed a brand new H55 in the Honey Badger. I got a mess of parts ordered from Jason at Cruiser Yard and work performed at S to N. I will add some photos later.

Awesome! Total respect for taking on that project in the middle of winter And I dig the inflatable paint booth!

Painting a truck is no small feat, good job man.
