Tested out the 285/75R17 mud terrains (34.1” by 11.1”) and they rubbed on plastic/liner/trim in front and rear.

I ended up doing some more cutting and trimming in the front. I cut maybe another 1/2” of plastic and metal.

But in the rear, I only removed the big torx bolt that holds the rear short splash guard from bluedog designwerks. That was the main culprit.

I’m ready to test it again. It only rubbed in deep ruts along the way to Monache Meadows

Upgrading my power station game as well as my charging game. Going electric camping.

Installing a rigid 100w solar panel on my stock oem roof rack. Installing an ETaker F1000Pro dc-to-dc charger that can also reverse charge my Costco AGM starter battery. This F1000Pro can combine 500W of solar with 500W of car alternator to charge the power station at 1000W per hour!

And a big Bluetti Elite 200 V2 2073Wh power station.

Everything purchased during Amazon Prime sale.

Install photos and videos coming…maybe! Lol

Installed the etaker f1000 pro today. Ran the etaker 8awg wires from the car battery (Costco AGM H7) thru the firewall on the passenger side under the door trim all the way to my quarter panel molle panel

And configuring the F1000 Pro using the Smart Life app forced me to read the manual! Arghh…not intuitive, but I finally got it to work while idling.

I’ll add solar panels later. One rigid 100w panel on the stock oem roof rack and a 200w portable solar panel to chase the sun at camp

100w solar panel installed on roof. Looks pretty flush with oem roof rack.

The ETAKER F1000PRO does a good job of prioritizing solar input over car alternator input to reach the max input of my old Bluetti EB70S which limits charging to 200W

Now I can trickle charge my power stations when there’s sun.

Now charging the Bluetti Elite 200 V2 with 300W from alternator and 79W from 100W solar panel while idling in driveway

I like this setup and I have a 200W portable solar panel to chase the sun at camp

You can’t tell I have a solar panel on the roof and this setup is filling up my big Bluetti power stations every day I’m parked in the sun and/or driving around town

how are you running the wires from the solar panel to inside the vehicle?

I bought flat MC4 cables and ran them thru the popup quarter panel window which has the ETAKER F1000 Pro conveniently located on an interior molle panel on that quarter panel window.

Someone mentioned that I should monitor the cables for water intrusion, but they look pretty tight. I did wash the GX470 with a power washer and no water went inside, but the jury still out on whether or not water will come in.

where did you get the cables?

Gold Mountain trail in Big Bear California is a Black Diamond and a Jeep Badge of Honor trail.

It’s one of the Big Bear Trifecta (Holdcomb Creek, John Bull, Gold Mountain) and the easiest of the 3.

Checked!

Well…it seems that Gold Mountain really gave me more minor issues than I thought.

Besides getting my rims, tires, rock sliders, exhaust tailpipe, and engine/transmission skids more scratches than ever before…it also ate one of my front engine skid bolts.

After further inspection, it looks like the threads on the factory holes were all gone. And it looks like it had been previously repaired like 10 years ago before I bought it.

Anyways, bought a helicoil kit to upgrade to M8 threads. I was able to fix the threads and paint the area around the holes.

Learned a new skill…and bought new tools! Lol

Just waiting for Amazon to deliver new M8 bolts

Funny that's one of the first "mods" I did to my GX as well :). The M6 bolts are just so puny! It's been much better with M8s in it.

I think the 5th gen 4R went to M8, so it’s a natural upgrade!

Front skid all buttoned up
